If you have ever done this before, kindly share your experience.

And how much can one really make at the end of the year by using this method?

Well just think it through. If you had 10 books that sold a $10 product and they all sold 1 (one a day) thats $100 a day. if you don't reach it with the 10 books keep adding till it happens. Of course it depends on your niche. Feed a hungry crowd and you'll get sales, problem to solution, in other words solve a problem. It also depends on how you set your book up but i can't really go into that here. Just use graphics to let people know how good your product is, and tell benefits with bullet points. Anyone can do this its just not talked about that much.

    submit them
    -free ebook directories
    -doc sites
-a splash each - rotate in exchanges
-put each on a blog for download with a video (try to get them listed), (ping), (submit to blog directories) etc

Waaaaaay too many variables to say yes or not either way. But when it come to numbers, work with something more like 1 out of every 100+ downloads of a free ebooks will generate a possible affiliate sale. And even then if all your doing is "linking" to a a few affiliates programs then you might as well stretch that out to about 1 in 500!

People who are downloading free ebooks are doing it because they want to get stuff for FREE! They are NOT looking to BUY stuff - if they were they'd save themselves a sh*tload of time and actually go an d buy the answers to their problem rather than sifting for eons through nasty free resources.

The better way to do the FREE / convert to FEE thing is to author a report SPECIFICALLY ABOUT ONE PARTICULAR PRODUCT and no others. Expand on all the good that can come from owning the product, illustrate how many different ways it can be used, create a how-to guide to get the most from it and so on.

      Then send it out.

Then look at some way to make it go viral like branding affiliate links to the new user.

I've always wanted to try this to see how it would work. I'm sure there are people out there who buy the affiliate products being promoted in a free ebook.

Yes, free ebooks are generally used as ethical bribe but if you put in a hot OTO after sign-up then you can get cash from the list building funnel. Sometimes a hundred or two.

Simple and effective! We once set-up a free ebook then an OTO to a $47 product. In a month we made over $1K from the sale of the backend.

Again, you can monetize the sign-up process. Put an effective OTO after sign-up.

        ----
For your question "How Much Can One Make in A Month With List Building"
-If you have an enticing OTO you can make from $500 to over $1000 that's
        based on experience.

As for the funnel: For me an effective list building setup for the IM niche will be:

        1. How I made my first 1K Online eBook
-Include real information on how you made it
-Recommend paid video guides or training guides to users (with your affiliate link inside the eBook). You can even recommend your other How To products
        inside the eBook.

You can't expect them to already know what you know
so you are giving them a link where they can learn the details. And it doesn't
hurt to make a small commission on it.

        2. Create Squeeze page with Title and bullet points + sign-up form

        3. Offer OTO after sign-up

        4. Create Download page

        Traffic Source

I prefer traffic from AdSwaps for the IM niche. I find that this traffic converts well than the visitors arriving to your blogs and signing up from there.

Again this is from my experience..

By including affiliate links and things inside the report that will generate cash.

To the OP, another good tip for getting it "out there" is including inside the report that they now have giveaway rights to that report.

          Eh, good point lol.

I didn't think about the MRR to be honest. Although - I'm not sure how exactly it would work - Wouldn't most people only get MRR material IF it comes with the sales page and all that jazz?

Which brings us to another issue. Distributing it (from other posts in the thread).

After you offer giveaway rights/mrr to it. Hit up the various membership sites like resell rights weekly, master resell rights, etc.. Ask them if they would be willing to include your product into their download files.

Are you wanting to give away free ebooks that have affiliate links within them? Then use this to monetize your efforts?

Are you wanting to build a list in the process?

How are you going to give these free ebooks away? If you can't give them to enough quality readers, then chances are no one will visit your affiliate links.

Your question is really vague... it depends on how you're getting your traffic (paid or free), how you're going to sell a product, how much commission you'll earn, the copy you use to convey your message and more....

All I can say is... how long is a piece of string?

In my experience, people who download stuff for free are very unlikely to pay for a similar product. There are certain people who will go to the ends of the earth to download something for free even at the risk of damaging their personal computers with viruses, then theres people who will download it just because its free and may never even open it much less apply the methods inside. People who are willing to pay for something online are a select group of people and I would say that you would find them by baiting them with a free product in 1 for every 500 people.

Its best to focus on a group of buyers in my opinion.

getting traffic is the main issue here. The more the book is exposed the more sales you will get even if its free. One free book i had sold a $70 item in it and it sold from within that book.

but having said that a buyers list IS a better way to go. To create a buyers list you need a email list you can split up. one for your initial subscribers and another waiting for you to transfer your buyers into. Most people use aweber but thats pricy for someone starting out. if you need to start free try the free ebook method among other things...AND WORK IT UNTIL IT WORKs!!!!! you can do it no matter what anyome else says

If it is a good book, and you can get it into a lot of people's hands, and your book successfully converts readers to visitors, and it effectively pre-sells visitors to lead them to become committed buyers, then the sky is the limit.

Looking at it in terms of one month or one year earnings denies the real challenge in front of you. You have to market your free books effectively, in order to be successful with them.

Harvey Segal has made a really good living for years by giving away on free ebook that is about 20 pages long. But not all of us can be the next Harvey Segal.

There are a few reasons to give away a free ebook.

    1) to build a list

    2) make some affiliate income

    3) upsell high price item

It depends on your objective :-)

Giving away a free book is just a small part of the process, so the answer would be from zero to millions.

You really need to think of a slightly more precise question than "how long is a metaphorical piece of string"

I'm still very confused at HOW you give away these free ebooks. Just because they are free doesn't mean they will be read by millions.

In all of your free ebooks, include links to your products or relevant affiliate links. Then submit them to the free ebook directories, and continue to market them on your site. You should even take some of your best ebooks and offer it as a free WSO.
