Does anyone Know the answer to the traffic question?

Hello fellow warriors!
So, here's the deal....

I was a moderately successful internet marketer about 3 years ago. I was making more money than I ever did at any job and I did it full time from 2007 to about the middle of 2009.

Needless to say, the game has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since I've been away.

So... I feel I've pretty much got the sales process down. I've got the e-mail marketing and the value of creating a list down (none of that seems to have changed too much).

But where I'm really struggling is finding a way to generate the traffic.

Back in my day I was a member of Wealthy Affiliate and I was getting about 80% of my traffic via Google PPC. It seems that has deteriorated to the point of not being an option anymore.

The other 20% of my traffic came from bum marketing / article marketing.

It seems THAT too has changed.....

So, I am wondering if anyone can tell me what strategy (or strategies) are the big boys using today?

I need both a short term strategy (I'm virtually broke now) and a long term strategy so that when I start making a few bucks I can set things up the way I used to have it (I contracted out most of the hard work). That isn't an option now since I have virtually no money.

I'm willing to put in the work, but I need something that REALLY works and not some waste of time like I've been running into lately via the "Guru's" lists I'm still on.

So.... Can anyone point me in the right direction?

BTW, I made most of my money with product review sites for clickbank products and my own e-books and software products.

    A lot has changed and a lot is changing in the internet world. That's why it's very important to stay updated. The big boys nowadays blog daily. They also outsource. Then it's recommended that 20% of your income go back to the business for paid services. Always don't rely on 1-2 traffic sources. There are a lot of sources out there which you can have a presence on. I'm doing this, and I've made my first consistent 4 figure months.

    Best thing to do if you're short on cash is to have a blog, and blog daily. You will see results just by doing this.

    I got and still get my training from 2 "big boys" and article marketing is still key but it is more about unique, original content and only post to a couple really highly respected and highly syndicated sites. I use Qondio.com and ideamarketers.com only. This has helped my SEO ranking and getting targeted traffic.

    Also, social marketing is really big.

    The process I use is this:

    write the unique, original, never before published article
    post in on Qondio.com per their rules
    once it is screened at Qondio
    post to ideamarketers.com
    (make sure to be very information, not salesy at all and include a very good bio with only one link to a great sales page)

    once it is through qondio and ideamarketers, I post it on my own blog and then social network my blog post everywhere saying a little about it.

    As I go along, I also ping all the url for the posts at each step of the way.

    Through out the day, I also post on forums and make other information, helpful posts on social networks that DO NOT contain any links in them. My rule on social networks is 90% help and only 10% promotion.

    Once a week or so, I change part of my sig in forums to a new blog post but keep my main page in the sig when they allow more than one link in a sig. On forums that they do not allow more than one sig, I keep the main page only in it.

    Hi Keith,

    Internet Marketing for Beginners is bigger than ever and virtual light years ahead of 2007. You already know that I am certain, but 11% of my traffic comes directly from beginners "day jobs" instead of their residence. Back in 2006/7 only 2% of my traffic came from the day jobs.

    My 'poll' revealed that the reason for it is actually two fold:
    1. My beginner clients learned from how to use two or more different IPs to their advantage, i.e. day job IP and home IP.
    2. My beginner clients learned from me how to leverage web rings for targeted traffic.

    So, the end result is we all send targeted traffic to each others websites wherein the websites offer different services. Literally a perpetual traffic method akin to residual profits.
