Ad Swaps - A Few Things I Learned

I wanted to share something that has been working for me to drive traffic to my squeeze page. I realize many people may already know this but they may be able to give advice to improve results.

1. I have a small list as compared to many on this forum but decided to try ad swaps over the last month and learned a few things. Ad swaps grew my list but some people had poor quality traffic and I am now wondering what the value of numbers actually is without quality. Lesson Learned – make sure your swap partner has quality traffic.

2. Matching clicks is not an exact science. As I found swap partners the quality of their swipe may have improved or reduced the amount of clicks received. While an average is important it doesn’t mean it will be the result. In some swaps I got more and in others my partner did. Lesson Learned – Test your swipes with small groups and when you find ones that work use them often. The quality of your swipe can make a huge difference in the amount of clicks you get.

3. The first week I did 3 swaps and the second I did 4 swaps. What I found was a less and less responsive list when e-mailing that many swaps. I took a few days off, did a swap and the clicks went up. What’s the right number of swaps per week of month? Lesson Learned – I need to test this out more as to not burn out my list. I currently am reducing this to 2 times per week. Anyone have an opinion?

I know swaps are one of many good tools to consider when building a list.
