Are you saying that you have DNS10 and it was hard to get it to work 4 you and it was difficult for you to understand how to use it?

it IS junk because they do not support Vista 64 bit and give a total nonsense explanation"

"Noone uses 64bit OS..therefore we wont support it"

I rarely have seen ANY application which does not work under 64bit, the cheapest "free" software does...but DNS does not

I have DNS 9. I have not had it installed for awhile. It worked
okay when I was using it but was slower than my speed of
typing on my computer at the time.

If you can't type over 30 WPM or your typing accuracy is poor
it may be of use to you. Perhaps DNS 10 is faster. It annoyed
me that as I spoke (with my equipment) DNS only displayed
what I said at about half my speaking rate, buffering the rest.

It takes a lot of memory. I use a laptop and it was just
too much to run DNS and other software I use more often
on the same machine so I uninstalled it.

There is no doubt in my mind that time spent improving your
typing skills is a good thing. I suggest, if you type really slow,
check out the Dvorak and Colemak keyboard layouts as
they are easier to learn to touch type with.

  • I've been hearing great things about it, especially on here...

Personally though, I just can't see the value in it. My writings much more fluid than my speaking - No umms or errrs in text lol
Plus most people can type almost as fast as they think anyway.

That's a pretty wild assertion. I can speak probably 120 words per minute
and think faster still. I can't type nearly so fast and I've been using
computers for 28 years. The average person types a lot slower
than even 30 WPM - in fact most people hunt and peck, just watch
people at the library and you'll see most people type painfully slow.

Agreed. I can speek much more fluidly than I can type. That's the reason so many people are producing video products these days.

First things first. I just got DNS 10 today and it has worked great. I believe it is the perfect productivity tool which will boost my profits by as much as 500% (yeah...just threw that number in there :-)

I am using DNS for the sole purpose of creating linkvana posts. And it works amazing. I went through the training for about 5 minutes and have been doing posts (and other work) for a while now - without one mistake.

I love this thing, and here is another benefit of having it...

It makes you a better speaker! So if you are one of those people that others have a hard time understanding, this is a great way to become more clear.

I, personally have been told that I have a voice as crystal clear as...well...crystal (it never hurts to brag, does it? :-)

I own & use DNS 10. It works great for me. I don't have Vista on my computer (I still have Windows XP). I'm not an incredibly fast typist (but I'm not that slow either) & DNS keeps up with my speaking voice (which is faster than I type). You have to train it on certain words that you use more often that sound similar to other words but other than that, I think it's a good product. It works for me & I use it fairly often.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking is amazing in my opinion. You just need to know how to use it.

It is extremely slow if you try to type with the inside of a browser.

Now, if you use the inside of Word, Dragon tag, or notepad it works extremely fast.

I just keep on talking and by the time I'm finished talking I will look up and it will be finished typing.

Now, like I said if you do that inside the browser it will be extremely slow. It'll actually type out each letter one letter at a time. It is painfully slow.

I guess I cannot say it enough. Do not use the inside of your browser. If you need to type out a post simply open up a notepad document into the post in there.

Then all you need to do is copy the document and paste the inside of the browser.

This will make life so much easier when you are using Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Actually, I love Dragon NaturallySpeaking so much I will not type without it.

If I need to type something I will not do it if I cannot do a Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Why? Well, I am one of those hot contact type of diapers. It will take me forever to type a document.

So, my time is better spent doing other things when it comes to typing.

Now, if I can just sit down and speak out when I need to type it goes super smooth.

Actually, this is a pretty long post and was done super quick.

I actually have not even taken a break. I've simply just On speaking.

I'm not going to edit out any of the mistakes we can see how accurate it is.

Hopefully I'm not to look too stupid.

And I'm actually speaking super super quick.

So if there are any mistakes that will tell you how accurate it is.

If there is a mistake though, it is because I have misspoke in. I do have some slurs in my words, so the errors are my mistake.

If I speak completely clearly it is usually almost 100% accurate.

But, just for examples sake I am speaking super fast and trying to get it to mess up.

I do not know if it is going to mess up but I am not going to check it.

I may have forgotten a few punctuation marks along the way, but please bear with me.

Remember I am talking as fast as I can to try to make this software messed up.

Believe me, if you know how to use this program and if you train it correctly it will be very very accurate and will greatly increase your productivity.

It is well worth the investment in my opinion.

Okay, I'm starting to get lightheaded I'm talking so fast, so I'm going to quit talking now.

i gave up on 9 because it would mess up a lot, even though i spent hours training it to my voice. i tried 3 differnt mics to try to get it better but it never worked out for me. also it was always behind atleast 3-5 seconds

The post above was done with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.

I was speaking as fast as I could speak.

I was trying to make the program mess up.

The reason why I was doing that was to give an example of how accurate the program actually is. In this post I am talking at a normal speed. I'm speaking very clearly and trying to make a perfect document.

Again, I am not going to edit any of this post. This will give you an example of how accurate the program is compared to when you're speaking super fast, too when you are speaking at a normal pace.

I'm speaking just like I would speak in a normal conversation. I'm not slowing down or trying to be super accurate with my words. I'm just being me.

This makes it extremely easy to type out articles, because you were just speaking. It is like you are actually telling a story.

In the document will end up very accurate.

My guess is there will be less than two errors in this entire document.

Why? Because I use the program and have trained it to know my voice and my tone and tempo.

It makes life so much easier when you are using this program. I cannot live without it. I am truly honest when I say that.

I type so slow it is not even funny. I am a hunt and peck typist.

Anyway, I hope this helps you make a decision.

Again, this post was written at a normal pace, and I was speaking very clearly in normally.

The post above was me speaking as fast as I possibly could speak. So, as you can see there were some inaccuracies, but overall it was very accurate. Anyway, remember this post here was not edited at all either. So you can see the difference between the two.

    Regards,

I am considering using DNS10 I have used an very early version with little success but currently reviewing the DNS10 and at $400 AUD i dont want to waste my money.
There have been some other reviews here and adding your demonstration to the file I am now goung to splash out on the software and give it a go
I will report back in a few weeks when I have had time to learn and train it

You did it you convinced me to purchase Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 in fact I'm using it right now I'd just installed it I have not done any training and I'm not editing this post either one thing I did notice is that it does not put. At the end of the sentence but hopefully as time goes on I learned how to use this program properly right now it's just kind of cool in a little frustrating but like in the new girlfriends eventually you come to love the little flaws are stumbling mistakes that they make how do you like this big run-on sentence I really have to work on inserting the.

I like it for writing articles because I can talk better than I can write. However, it is taxing on my system and for short blurbs it seems more time consuming to start and set up than sitting down for a quick chat.

$400 AUD! I'm in the US & got it on sale for half off ($97 USD) & it came with a microphone headset. I'd been meaning to buy it but when it was 50% off with a mic, I couldn't pass it up!

manzilla911, you have to tell it to put punctuation marks. Since you just got it, you obviously haven't had a chance to look over the instructions.

There is a lot of system training required to get DNS to work satisfactorily. There are also numerous commands to master. Productivity will be very low for several days but perseverance will pay off in the long run. Remember, computers are dumb. Until the software "understands" the way you talk it will make many mistakes. For slow typers like me it's a godsend.

After reading this thread I went out and purchased DNS 10
As I mentioned I used Dragon Naturally speaking when it was first on the market and at that time it was costing maybe $50 Today it cost me $340 Aussie Dollars.
What an Improvement 30 minutes to train the system to my voice and then I gave it a try. The key seems to be to speak slowly and I am very impressed.
Speaking at a normal pace it made some mistakes but still not many more than my two finger typing (which if you read my posts you will see) Very easy to correct.
Speaking slowly and concisely the number of mistakes is minimal with some probaly able to be trained out of the system. For example my wifes name is Anne Marie but DNS types that as AND Marie
Very pleased that I bought it and thank you to the OP as this thread got me to act and I think this will help me a lot.
