Default 5 Techniques to Improve the Loading Speed of the Forum/Website

Hi Allen et all,

I've posted this info before somewhere on the internet, but I think this would help all the warriors/webmasters out there who have slow loading page but don't know why .

Anyway, here are some simple techniques to make this forum script or website runs faster & loads faster:

1. Use CSS background image instead of <img> tag. Try not to use the <img> tag for the images and use the “CSS background-image” instead. I've estimated that the cost of 1 UNIQUE image is about 1/5 second of loading time.

So, if you have 5 images that would be +1 second (plus you can save a lot of bandwidth too if your site has high traffic =). To that end, it would be better to use CSS background image for the user images and/or icons, etc.

Here is the site that can test the loading speed of your web page: Web Page Analyzer - free website optimization tool website speed test check website performance report from web site optimization

2. If you must use <img> tag, try to use it via only one/same image. Use CSS roll over & other effect.

3. Host your "images" files on another domain/server.

4. Additionally, if the java/scripts aren't needed in the 'header', add them in the footer of the page instead.

5. Lastly, use other famous/already optimized sites as example: check out Yahoo! --> and see how fast the page loads with all those images (less than 1 sec =)...
