          There is a "PS" near bottom of this page:
          WordPress › Akismet « WordPress Plugins

          that says this:
          PS: You'll need an Akismet.com API key to use it. Keys are free for personal blogs, with paid subscriptions available for businesses and commercial sites.

          I make money off my blog, so I am a business/commercial user.

            Oh. I just use the same key for everything.

            If you don't make enough money for the cost to be negligible, then you don't really have a business, you really just have a hobby that wants to be a business when it grows up ;-)

            So either call it a hobby / personal blog, or pay the fee ;-)
