Who Else is Joining the Kindle Publishing Stampede? Holler!

Who else is jumping on the Kindle bandwagon this year? The thought of leaving Google behind sounds sweet (if its true - still have to promote the books). Hopefully there will be room for all of us!

Way ahead of you. Amazon have been sending me cheques for a LONG time now

    Don't overcrowd it too much.

Thinking of giving it a go! Want to try a novel rather than an ebook though.

The great thing about Kindle is I think there is plenty or room for as many serious publishers as possible. It's a massive market.

Just don't put out crap, focus on quality. If you're not making enough, figure out how better to market your quality books.

The potential of Amazon/Kindle is a reflection of you.

If you put your best foot forward, you should do well.

It you go the route of putting out low-quality titles to make a fast buck, you will get run over by the Failure Express.

I'm looking into this as well. One thing I'm uncertain of is what length Kindle readers typically demand. Obviously, it depends in part on the title's price. But I'd like to know what length those of you with experience aim for in a non-fiction title.

Jon: Go the category that you plan on writing about, and check how the top-sellers in that category are doing.

That will give you a clue for page count, popularity, and pricing.

Each category and sub-category you go into, Amazon sorts naturally by "Best Seller" status, according to their internal algorithm of what defines a "Best Seller".

Finally released my first kindle book a couple days ago. The hardest part is getting kindlegen to convert the files. I am excited to be up there, but am in a fairly competitive category. We'll see! I am a writer by trade and not trying to make a fast buck, so it's an adventure nonetheless.

While there are LOTS of books on the Kindle, I think that we are still in the "gold rush" stage of the Kindle era. Kind of like the first couple years of Apps were amazing for App sellers on the iPhone, this is still that time for the Kindle so it's a great time to be in it for sure.

I have about 5 or 6 started right now. When one gets boring and tiresome, it's easy to jump right on another one until it's time to take a break from it. There's no production date for me, although it would be nice to get them all up and earning before the end of this year.

Is everyone going for books that are lengthy rather than short? Mine are not short books, so it will take time to get them done. I am also writing articles for a blog ahead of time that will coincide with one of the sets of books, so it's quite a large project. As soon as that set of books is ready, the blog will go up as well as working on the marketing plan for them.

I write books in a niche I already have a site in. I use them to bring traffic and credibility to an already establish niche blog. It works really well and I get some nice targeted traffic while also making money.

This also means I can promote my new Kindle books to the people on my list since I already have a list in the niche.

I've been wanting to release a book on Kindle, once I get it written and make it a PDF first. I think it's going to be a nice traffic source.

I have three books on Kindle right now. They are doing okay but I want to add a lot more to my Kindle bookshelf this year.

It would be great to be able to pay all my bills with my Kindle earnings. Maybe one day

I published my first book there a few days ago as well.

Actually, it's more of a pamphlet, inspired by the Writer's Manifesto by Jeff Goins.
