How much should I give a copywriter?

I'm doing profit sharing of affiliate sites and I dont know what is appropriate to give people who have different jobs.

I'm the SEO, but I need a writer, and a copywriter for the content, and possibly a designer/coder for the wordpress theme. How much of a percentage is appropriate to give just a writer? Just for writing the text of the reviews and any posts that would be on the site? How much should a copywriter get who takes the written text content and turns it into a well-converting sales copy? (2% and above is what I would consider good conversion) and how much should I as the SEO get? This includes all on-page SEO, link building, social media marketing, etc. And how much should a designer/wordpress theme builder get? This person would do all the php/html/css and all graphics/pictures for the site unless the copywriter wants to do his own special images for sales on pages/posts.

What do you think?

Thanks everybody

    Just for writing the text.

You mean the text that makes up the entire
site and 99% of the Internet?

    Hmm.

And how about the copywriter? How much
should you give the guy just responsible for
    making all your money?

Reward people well, and they'll be loyal.
Stiff them, or be greedy, and they'll go
    make money for somebody else.

I agree that you were misunderstood. But then again it was easy
to misunderstand what you were trying to say. Look at your use
of the word "just" and also consider the statement:

How much should a copywriter get who takes the written text content and turns it into a well-converting sales copy? (2% and above is what I would consider good conversion)
It appears that the 2% belongs to the commission for the copywriter
rather than the conversion of the sales letter because the word
comes at the end of the sentence.

This is a forum and nobody wants to read something twice to get
the sense of it why it must be written so you get it the first
      time.

Again, in your defense you were NOT putting down writers or
copywriters but a cursory reading does give that impression.

Do need a copywriter for a product? If so, then you need to contact a copywriter for an idea about the fee for copywriting. Fees can vary-See the warriors for hire forum.

Also see the Warriors for hire forum about content writing.

      good luck!

OP, I'm not sure what you're getting at when you talk about paying a writer and then paying a copywriter to take that work and turn it into well-converting sales copy.

When you need content, a writer does the job without needing any involvement from a copywriter. And when you need sales copy, a copywriter does the job without needing any involvement from a writer (a non-copywriter-writer, to be clear).

As far as designer and developer is concerned it should be a one-off job otherwise you'll be losing money by giving them a percentage of profit and if you are not losing a significant amount of money by offering a percentage of profit then the project is probably a waste of your time.

A custom theme along with little wordpress modification shouldn't cost more than $200.

For copywriting, I am not sure if a good copywriter, who can make a difference in conversion rate, would take the job without upfront payment. If you want to offer them a percentage of profit, you'll need to have a site already getting good traffic and converting at some level and only then you should approach a copywriter with your offer, and then a copywriter may consider your offer if they think that improving the copy may result in higher conversion, still you'll need to offer a significant percentage of profit.

Just saying that I am an SEO with an idea and willing to share profit wouldn't get you attention from someone who's worth sharing profit with.

    Hey Ray,

Nope, no misunderstanding here. I got what he
was saying - but saying "just" a writer or "just"
writing gives the impression that he doesn't
value the words that will, let's face it, make
up the meat of his pages.

But hey, his site, his ball, his court. A long as
he doesn't hire me, what he pays people is
between he and them, I guess.
