"I'm afraid to sell"

Don't be afraid, there's only 2 possibilities

1. sale happen
2. sale not happen

So you are saying that selling is pretty much like the binary system where the only possibilities are 0 and 1? Extrapolating this, is our entire universe similar with the binary system? Is it real, is it an illusion? Do we live in the Matrix? Nice philosophy there mister...

lol, refund mean no sell right?

and one of the replies there say, giving free.
I want to ask you. Why you are giving a free gift?
So that your prospect will like you or your product right?
      For what?
      Exactly for making sales !

I'm not talking about the process here, I'm talking about the purpose.
The purpose for selling is to make sales.

You can talk about wrting engagement content, building up list, building credibility, at the end you don't make any sales. that' s mean, you don't make a sell.

well, fundamental of business is to sell. the possibilities is two. sales happen, sales don't happen.

you know why there are lot of IM out there have mailing list but never send their list any email? because there are afraid.

      afraid of losing subscribers.
      afraid of not making sales.
afraid of the subscriber will mark his email as spam.

you know why it's happen? bevaus of thinking TOO MUCH possibilities.

I can list hundreds of possibilities when selling is happen.

when you send email to mailing list, then your subscriber like your offer, but then, he go to the website, the website said, currently server down.

      or,
there is possibilities, while receiving your call, he is not in the mood to talk about any product because of familiy problem, and hang up your call.

      or even....so much possibilities.

when you think too much, you don't get too much.

be simple, just do it !

It's all coming from your mindset, if you set in your mind, "yes I can do it"
subconciously, you will find any ways to get to your goal.

subconsious mind don't work by logic, they just received order fom your brain, and act based on it.

for some, this thread might be worthless. well, it's up to you.
I personally get benefit from it.

When I share what I know and believe, I am reminding myself hundred time to myself and make my belief even stonger !

      again.....just do it.

I actually don't mind the selling....And I get the whole "get sale"/"no sale" thing....The thought of "refund" is depressing...LOL!!! My biggest thing is determining what content is "What you can afford to give away" in the effort to create the "relationship" and all but guarantee the sale...How do you consistently make the determination that you can part with it and how much is enough?

So you don't give away free content, or consider building the "relationship" first??? You just present the offer & go for the sale??

what you say there, is a process.
there can be a lot of process, but only ONE goal.

"I'm afraid to sell" has cost me a lot of time and effort which equals to a lot of lost $$$. What I mean is I don't consider myself a sales person, in fact I hate the process of talking to people and "buttering" them up to sale my product even though I have done it well in the past. So I partnered up with a "sales" person. While I spent hundreds of hours building out the code/product this person hardly did anything for sales. Need to overcome that fear and stop thinking I need to bring someone in. Hopefully this was on topic lol

I like the example of the guy who signs up for information and help on curing his toothache instantly. You can provide quality content and try to build a relationship or you could just the guy a favor and sell him the solution NOW.

I don't think people are afraid to sell, I think they are afraid to engage and interact. In many cases selling is about developing a relationship with the buyer. Many of us have a personal relationship with our money and when we exchange it for a good or service that is a personal exchange.

      great. now we talk.
since the first question is anwered. make a sale or not make any sale.

because of this simplicity, we can detect the problem.

the first reply there say, he got problem with building up relatinoship and to maintain it when it happen.

the second reply said that, he know others who don't make sales because of not having a good engagement and interaction.

now see this...in selling, it's either sale happen or not happen.

the idea is, just do it.

when you make a selling, but you don't make any sales, you will learn.
as example, both gentlements learnt that, the problem is building relationship with prospect.

and let say, when you start to have a relationship, you learn that you are not a good writer.

what you are doing then? of course you are going to improve your writing.

      you fix it.

later you find that, when your writing is good, your relationship is also getting better. then you also find that, when your relationship is okay, it's easier for you to make the selling process.
lastly, you are now a salesman, because closed the sale.

that's one example of a process ones can learn.
      it.s work top down.

the goal, is to make sales happen.

I think having a fear of selling something is a real thing. Usually it stems from the question of whether what you are selling has real value or not.

when you start questioning your product, there are two ways to deal with it.

1.learn about your product, and believe in it
      2. if you can't trust your product, stop selling it.

      it will damage yourself

Really, everyone sells everyday. If you need a ride to the store you have to sell that person on why you need a ride to the store. If you have a job you sold your skills to that employer.

Thanks Raja, that puts it plainly. If you know the possible outcome, then the fear factor is reduced. Don't be afraid to sell. If no one buys then you are no worse off than you are when you're not selling. Right?

I think that the only reason why someone would be afraid to sell is simply because in their mind they are thinking "people hate to be sold to". I remember when I first got started with selling products online and felt the same way at first but then I realized that It all comes down to your sales copy. When you are selling something to someone you need to make sure you are not trying to strip them of their money. All you need to do is create quality content if selling online and if person to person, be sure to have the customers interest in mind.

"I'm afraid to sell" = "I don't really know what to do"

    Hello,

What about finding other people who can sell your products? If your product is good, then there are a lot of people who will happily sell it for you. Forum marketing is selling and you do not need actively to contact people and do your sales pitch.

You could at least consider finding someone who will help you to become better at selling. If you know how to network, then you would learn how to make your networking efforts to pay.

This is also selling. Selling yourself. If you do not believe in your product, how can you convince others to believe in it?

JUST DO IT is nothing but "take action".... a new dimension has been brought in in this thread about subconscious mind, brain directing the mind to do and fear of losing a sale and so on. What is important to be noted here is the "Mindset" of people .... it is definitely a fact ... the mind controls your action. ..... I remember two important lines of a good poem

IF YOU THINK YOU ARE BEATEN, YOU ARE
IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE LOST, YOU ARE

FOR OUT IN THE WORLD SUCCESS IS NOT
WHAT A STRONG MAN BRINGS IN ... IT IS
THE STATE OF MIND WHICH MAKES YOU
    OR BREAKS YOU.
