Another attempt at IM, need some advice

So here goes... I have been trying to start with IM for a while now and had a few sites that I made myself and a few that were built for me. They were not that successful, so when I had absolutely no time to focus on IM I simply quit.

I have some time to spare now, so I would like to once again venture into the field and give it another shot.

I have decided that the Amazon site model is ideal for me because of the time and knowledge I have. I wanted to ask about the general structure about an Amazon site, is it still good to make 5-10 page sites and just let them sit there with a few backlinks or is it preferable to create big niche sites?

If you have any guide or thread worth looking at, please kindly point me in that direction, it will be greatly appreciated.

Please don't question my choice of Amazon, I have tried other models and based upon my experience they were not suited for me at this time.

Thank you for all the constructive input,
Vlad

I'd go and check out some of the good WSO's on here about Amazon affiliate success. They're are very good and at a bargain price (and I dont mean my WSO as this is about Kindle not Amazon affiliate).

Read up on a few of the threads and comments/reviews to find one that suits your needs. Heck why not keep a case study of your results as you follow someones guide and then release your own course on your success!

I did have 4-5 1 page Amazon affiliate website, but each one targeted a different product. They only sold a low ticket item, but people often buy other things and often found people buying tablets and other high ticket items. So you will be surprised at the success you can have with a seemingly small site.

No problems at all with your choice of Amazon. You should go with a base that you are familiar with and comfortable with

Small sites are good and they can work just as well as big niche sites, and they are much easier to do if you have only a bit of time on your hands. Start out small and then expand. Just make sure your 4-5 website pages all have great content so that your site gets recurring traffic.

Ok this was your first mistake, quitting, but I've been there and done that too. In fact, I've quit and restarted again 3 times since 2006, but this time I've been here for 18 months, and I'm still here. Finally getting some results.
    So, welcome back

Also, the Amazon business model is solid. just one of my Amazon sites I have made $600 last month, so this is definitely a great model to work with.

There are plenty of WSO's around here that will help you with that.

Why anyone has to quit in the first place ? You have something to do in the first place which is anyway your bread winner and IM comes to you as a "side business" in the initial phase of your internet career. Once you become successful and your auto-pilot system is working well, its only then you decide to throw your primary business or job and then focus on IM ... isn't it ? Welcome back and this time stay put so hard that you become a role model for others ... About your question, I suggest let it be small. Let the momentum picks up and you can always make it big later.

Thank you guys for the info, I will definately take a look at some of the WSOs and I already started picking up some War Room content as well...

As far as quitting goes, I had legitimate reasons to do so, into which I will not go more in depth, but I just wanted to say that sometimes in life you have to make choices and I didn't quit because I gave up or didn't want to put the effort, I just had other things with bigger priorities...

Anyhow, I don't agree with the "never give up" mentality because sometimes you just need to reevaluate your strategy and perhaps give up on the current project all together if you realize it will not give you a good return in the end.

    Thanks again for the input,
    Vlad

    Hello Vlad,

If I were you, I would put the sites up and test them. There is no other way to know if they are going to make you money or not.

    All the best,

Hey, you may want to take a look at 'Proven Income Method' course by Jan Roos. It's a great guide about building Amazon affiliate sites. You can google about it.

I wouldn't put my heart and soul into Amazon. They can cut your income at anytime. Read here:

    Selling On Amazon.com Sucks !

I would go with the big niche site. I choose this model because i'm good at website design, and know how to position products and adsense ads to get lots of clicks.

You say you had no success with other models, but I think its the same with Amazon as well. What was your problem with your previous projects? No traffic, no sales? Just tell me and I'll try to help.

If you want to jump into creating Amazon affiliate sites, then I reccommend you to make review sites. But throwing a few backlinks and let it sit is not a good idea. Build your backlinks, don't stop with it. But never do mass linkbuiling, do everything manually.

I can absolutely understand your frustration and I totally understand why you would want to start with Amazon. I think this is a great place to start namely because you recognize that it jives with where you are right now. The main reason why most people don't make money online initially is because they try to follow systems that don't make sense intellectually to them.

See if you can find anything from Sara Young. She's pretty good. I don't think she does a good job of explaining SEO, but she's got a kind of sniper site system going that works pretty well. There is another woman here on the WF who sold a system at Christmas that had a bit more of an authority site approach. I think she did a better job of the SEO side, but chose really cheap products to promote which isn't the best mood in my opinion. Nonetheless, it works. If I can remember her name and the link to her WSO, I'll post it.

    Good luck,
    Adrienne

It took me TWO years before I made it to where I'm at today. Did I get frustrated sometimes? Of course! Did I give up? HECK NO! Now I spend all day at home with my daughter and wife and pay bills with ease, AND THE FUN HAS JUST BEGUN. You WILL be successful if you keep trying. Stop looking for the magic solution, lock yourself in your office and start STUDYING. Before you know it, you'll have a bigger income than you could of ever dreamed of.

I would check out some of the best reveiwed WSO's on this subject.

A lot of the WSO's have support as well, which would help if you were struggling with anything.

My two strategies are blogging and review site.I understand how you feel and I am not giving up. Instead,i will move back one step and try to see the whole picture again. I will still focus on these two strategies but with some changes made.

There is a show called "Billionaire" and one of the things that the show taught me was "You can try again if you fail but if you give up,you are game over". It is really a nice and inspiring show.

Jan Roos's ebook on this subject is a great starting point. I dabbled with it, but had to give up because another project required more of my time & energy. But I'm sure I would have had success with it if I'd kept going.

I'd say go with a smaller niche amazon site to begin with, so that your competition isn't too overwhelming. Then stick at it, it may take a while to bring in your first sales, but it will be well worth it when you get them. The trick is to be consistent, and get rid of that quitting mindset, as it will always happen to you unless you change that factor. I'm sure you will be able to pull off a small niche amazon site if you stick with it. now prove me right!

Start with small sites that target only 1-2 keywords so you don't get confused. Try a small ticket product that has little competition in Google. Build a small website and just backlink it until you reach number 1 position.

You beat me to it! Good advice; keep it small and simple to start with. However, and it is quite easy these days, add video to your site. There is a warrior, Jeff Petit, I think, who has WSOs with Amazon product reviews. These might not be in small enough niches for you, but have a look anyway. Good luck this time round!
