.US or .Net ?

i plan to change my recent website name so as i couldn't purchase the .com version, i have the .net and us.
Which one is more proper for USA targeted visitors?

    I've got plenty of .net's and a few .us's... there's no difference in my experience between them in terms of SEO. Google did reverse what they've said about domain extensions, though. Matt Cutts originally said things to the effect that it was irrelevant, then reversed that a bit later (and more recently). Seems you want to avoid extensions that spammers often use. I think I'd avoid .info and .biz now, for starters. But I've not heard that .us is being used by spammers any more than the top domain extensions. And as I said, I've not seen any SEO differences between .net and .us in my own business.

      Both are okay. I would go with .net because that would let me expand beyond US, assuming such expansion makes sense in your setting.

        Actually with this type of site its hard to chose the relevant words ..and i plan to stay only for USA visitors .. actually i'll put my cards on the table and ask your opinion guys as i saw lot of you here have a big background in this area:

        My actual website is bisads.com , for us classifieds - the actual design and seo suks and i intend to make big changes but only after i decide if i continue with this domain or to change it with another that is more proper for seo ,who will bring me more quality traffic .. and some names i own and i'm so undecided which one to pick, are: adsusa.us , nypress.net , americadeal.com ( it will be mine in 2 weeks), uslisting.us ..or i should continue with my existing one? - i must mention that the biggest trafic right now is coming from India..
        any opinions are welcome.

    yea I'd go with .net if it was me. I've found it always best to go with .com, .net or .org if possible.

      I would prefer .net you will not see any huge differences for seo just that
      .com .net and .org come more naturally to people on the net.
