Can someone provide advice on redirecting custom domain?

Hi

If someone has a custom domain on Blogger instead of using the blogspot subdomain, then is it possible at a later date to redirect the custom domain from the blogger to another web host so that the domain is no longer linked to a blogger blog? The reason I am asking is I like Blogger but what would happen if I did have a custom domain with them and they shut down the blog? Is there a way around this?

    Your Domain is NOT handled by Blogger. Your Domain DNS is handled by a provider where you purchased the Domain. You are simply pointing the DNS to Blogger. You can at ANYTIME point your Domain's DNS to anywhere you want.

    Ok thanks, what would happen to the content on Blogger if they shut it down. Would I still be able to recover it as long as I had backed it up?
