What do you guys think.. Is there a demand for Gaming Ebooks? Kinda like guides, walkthroughs or maybe some general information on Gaming? Any Advice if Ebooks is the right way to go, or should I not go in that direction?

I think there is a demand but I'm not sure how high that demand is. There are a lot of World of Warcraft gaming guides that seem to do well. However, I was promoting a WoW guide but have stopped because they reduced the selling price from $47 down to $10 which game me very little commission. It also made me wonder if they reduced the price because they weren't making many sales - less demand or too much competition, no idea.

I'm not sure what other types of games you were thinking, but I would think to have a good selling gaming guide you would need to give some great, helpful information and really know what you're talking about.

I think there is. Some of those gaming guides on Clickbank are good sellers for a reason. I tend to think though that strategy guides full of tips and tricks would sell much better than just instructional walk-through guides.

There is definitely a demand for gaming guides. It is a very hot niche but there is always a lot of competition. If you do not think that many people will buy a guide, then you can always post a guide on a website and then use a content locker. Then drive traffic with the incentive that the guide is FREE!

From what I have seen, gaming guides to popular games do really well.. Especially if the game has multiple ways to beat it, like computer games.

Its seems like every time big games come out a big guide comes out with it though. So, competition may be tough with certain games.

I am not in the gaming niche but I do play video games... and I have bought a MMORPG gaming guide through a gaming guide site. If the guide you create is unique and in-depth enough, you may have a chance that gaming guide site will review and advertise it.

    Good luck

I think there is a demand for gaming guides but for games that have a lot of levels and stuff to collect.
I think you also have to look at the free competition because you have some people that will play a game and post a free walk through. I used to game and the majority of the games had free guides.
I am not sure about now but that is one thing to think about.

Since gaming is the "TOP" thing people do online I would say there is a demand but you need to be careful on what games you create those ebooks for. Hitting popular games that have poorly put together guides would be your best bet.

You need to do your research though and find out what is out there before you create an ebook. Are there other guides ? How good are those other guides ? Is there a free walk-through online ? Many things you need to consider and research before jumping in.

DO NOT DO AN EBOOK... Sell a one-time cost membership or a yearly cost membership so that users can login and watch videos about the latest game cheats, tricks and maps to help them get further in the game and unlock hidden levels.

These people are fanatical about gaming and want immediate gratification. My son plays call of duty and when he needs help he runs to the computer and tries to look for help immediately. If there were a place he could go and get his information instantly he would.

This way you can always update the videos and keep the product fresh as opposed to an eBook where the information will get outdated pretty quick.

Start with ONE popular game for example Call Of Duty and get that one off the ground. Organize it well, charge a small yearly fee and you'll stand to gain a lot of members. Then sell advertising inside the membership to video game companies and you'll make more from the advertising than the actual memberships.

Those are just two ways to monetize a site like that. You could also offer a weekly prize, say $500 to the one gamer who submits the best trick, tip or cheat that does cool things in the game. This way you'll get content from your users as well...

Regardless what you can find online for free about the game the true value of your membership style site is that all the information is in one place. It's organized, edited and focused content. That is worth something so don't let people talk you out of it just because of competition.

If I were doing a site like this I would charge $6.99 - $9.99 per year. Concentrate on numbers, generate an email marketing list of your members who you'll email when new tips etc. are uploaded and don't forget about putting together a strategy to attract advertisers inside the members area. Advertisers will pay a lot of money every month to be in front of thousands of gamers who are focused.

Mike Hill is 100% correct, although I might charge (a lot) more and go for a smaller membership... Different stokes for different folks and all that jazz.

Either way, keep in mind that:

    1. Most gaming info can be found free online
    2. Gamers share eBooks without regard for copyright laws

So this is a great idea, but go for the membership site over the eBooks.

PS. If you find that your information is being given away or disseminated between gamers then I would make it completely free but they have to register and then focus on making money off of the advertising.

Although, most membership scripts nowadays will help eliminate the problem of people giving away their login details and gamers don't have too much time on their hands to scrape every video off the site just to give it away. They would rather be playing and beating the game, trust me, I watch my son and he has very little time for anything else... LOL

One of the best plugins for WordPress to make it a membership site is Profits Theme. Spend a bit of time playing with it and you'll get the hang of it. Watch their videos and soon you'll catch on.

Concentrate on one popular game and do it well. That is the key here. If your information is up to date and you have videos as well to demonstrate then you will soon become a fan favorite.

  • Yea I would say there is. Gaming is one of the biggest niches out there, so why not?

Yeah they are in demand. You can go to Walmart and pick out the gaming guides for games such as "Call Of Duty". I think you can sell your ebook online though - provided if it sounds appealing and something that your prospects will deem worthwhile. Add lots of bullet points to show all that they will be receiving from your guide.

Gaming guides generally sell quite well after a new game is launched, then they tail right off perhaps picking up again after an update.
The problem seems to be that not many games 'stick' and not many have the popularity of WoW or CoD, also they are likely to outsold by guides that have a membership forum with resident experts and videos.

I would say though that you could still do pretty well with ebooks in general in all sorts of niches.

Definitely there's a demand!!! There are too many people who want to get involved in gaming & don't because the info that comes with titles don't really give that "real life" info that you need, in small pertinent bites, that will get you "enjoying" the experience right away! More times than not, they leave you trying to figure out what was suppose to happen when you just wanna get to playing....If you build in quality, useful material that promotes getting to having FUN & understanding what they're doing, people will buy & refer!!!
