How do you listen to audio?

Kind of a strange question, I suppose, but here goes...

I am trying to decide between two stingers/idents for my videos. There are a couple of choices I've narrowed down to, but one of them sounds WAY different (worse) if I use computer speakers. The other choice sounds pretty much the same way whether I use computer speakers or my head phones. I think the former goes better, but the other one works better without being concerned about speakers.

When you watch a video or listen to audio, are you more likely to use your computer speakers, or a headset?

Thanks,

Ron

I personally use computer speakers more when I am on the computer. I only put my headphones on when there are other people in the room that don't want to listen... and even then I rarely use them. lol

If I'm on my desktop I use the speakers as the sound quality is really good.

Conversely,if I'm on my laptop I use earphones as it seems to enhance the audio.

I use a headset, because i like the bass that projects from my fluffy headphones. Plus it doesn't disturb the rest of the house.

Headphones for me usually as well, so don't disturb everyone else. Office is close to the living room.

Speakers unless there's a good reason to use headphones. Probably 95% speakers.

    I use my ears .

But seriously, I tend to use computer speakers.

As far as which stinger to use: I'd use the one that sounds best on the worst equipment. The reasoning being that if it sounds good on something bad, it will sound even better on something good.

    Thanks, really appreciate the replies.

The intro I prefer sounds really good with my headset (which is what I usually use) but it sounds really bad on my laptop's speakers. The other choice I like sounds decent either way. Never thought of any difference before, until I just happen to think about it the other day. Seems like most of you, if trends hold, use computer speakers. Thanks again.

It's not enough to want it... you have to want it enough.

    Computer speakers here,

But can I just state that I am surprised that you are even considering using an audio track that doesn't sound good on standard equipment, like computer speakers?

Always go with the track that sounds best on whatever people use.. Unless you have a very good reason not to.

Yeah, it's just one of those things I never really thought about for whatever reason. I know in the back of my mind that people use their computer speakers, but I just didn't really think about how MY tracks would sound on speakers. I have ALWAYS used my headset and I have not made videos before with music intros. I did not check how it sounded on the speakers until I happened to think about it.

The only reason I was considering using the intro I preferred is that I did not know how people listen to audio. I figured that if the VAST majority used a headset, no real problem. But, I see that the majority (it seems in this small sampling) use their computer's speakers. So, obviously I will go with a decent intro that sounds good on whatever sound device people use.

It's a question with an obvious solution (use whatever sounds good either way) but I still wanted to try to get a feel for how people listen.

I try to use headphones. For me I am better able to concentrate on the sound.

I occasionally will use speakers but for me, I prefer my headset.

Sometimes I am trying to do work with other people in the room...and then headphones are a must!
