A suggestion for relationship niche...

Hello warriors,

I have a website that deals with problems in a relationship. most of my visitors are going through this problem.

Please tell me,

if is it OK to offer them a gift report in return of liking my FB fanpage, following me on twitter or +1 me?

i am asking because doing so will reveal their action to their entire network which they may not like (as it will expose the issues they are going through)

OR i am thinking too much?

Your suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

I was also thinking that the list would be the best way to go. I'm in the process of offering a free report. I guess the trouble will be to get visitors to opt in.

A list would be better for the freebie, but you could install a WP plugin that is basically a pop-up that asks the visitor to "help us out by sharing this with your friends" then would have buttons for FB, Twitter and G+1.

    Hello,

I would be careful concerning the personal nature of relationships. Perhaps you could run a survey first to be absolutely sure that people actually like what you plan to do.

    All the best,
    Nancy

Stop your fascination of Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

If you're going to give them the free ebook, make them opt-in to an autoresponder sequence, and give them the ebook to download for free. Keeping things simple will keep you sane.

I would offer them the free gift in return for signing up to your mailing list. Build your subscriber list - that is so much more important and more beneficial than having them like your FB or Twitter.

You can add buttons on your website to encourage visitors to like you on Facebook or Twitter, but I wouldn't offer something in exchange for it.

I agree with everyone's post so far.

I would prefer having them opt in to my mailing list.

That way once their on you can continue to add value to them and sooner or later you can always send out an email asking people to connect with you on your social network pages.

You get the best of both worlds with this approach.
