Squeeze Page, Sales Page, and Testing

Hello fellow Warriors,

A few days ago I posted here in the forum asking if "IM really is that easy? Get a site, put up an offer, get traffic, and collect checks"

Of course, that's only a very general description. I'm looking to elaborate on the steps and try to make my venture that I'm planning to be profitable.

Back story:
I'm going to be wanting to promote a page on my blog, with the hopes of people eventually purchasing an ebook that will make me 25/dollars each in affiliate sales.

The squeeze page and/or sales page will be located on a separate page at www.mainsite.com/squeeze OR mainsite.com/salespage

My question is on testing, as I understand that's a major part of the game.

  • Situation 1: I set up a squeeze page to get email's offering a free ebook. Inside the ebook is my affiliate link. I track this link and measure its success with unique hoplink.
  • Situation 2: I set up a sales-letter page and offer the ebook for sale directly. I track success with unique hoplink. Possibly thinking about giving the free ebook as a free bonus here.

Question A: How do I get emails in situation 2?

Question B: Any suggestions to the testing situations? Any good resources for testing information? Testing is important...right!?

I'm going to be driving traffic to both situations with Google PPC.

If I was you I would remove the affiliate link from the free report. If people have already opted in to your list when they get the free report, never try to sell to them straight away. You want to build a realationship with them first.

When I was starting out I would maybe promote an actual offer from which I would make some money every 8-12 days. I would email them 5 times a week though. I would just send them HIGH QUALITY free information.

What auto-responder do you use? I'm assuming aweber.

Instead of wasting your money with PPC, why don't you buy some solo ads? You can get guaranteed clicks with these and it will probably have better conversion rates.

If you're selling a product that is $49 or lower, you're probably better off leading them to your sales page. If it's $50 or higher, you'll probably want to generate a lead. You can allow people to opt-in to your email newsletter from the sales letter route by going to Aweber, and putting a lightbox hover ad on your site. If you want to see an example of the lightbox in action, click on my yellow signature below.

Thanks a lot guys - I'm actually going to be using mailchimp.

@Ryan - What are solo ads? Is PPC really a waste of money? Can you point me to any information about them?

@ Thanks Randall, you always have good info to say. I'm really interested in lightbox hovers for email sign-ups.

Cheers guys! Thanks for your insight!
