Hi there,

I am quite new at article marketing. is it normal that my articles rank for say 1 day on Google at 11 spot and then completely disappear?

How to avoid this?

Yes, this is very common. It's called the "Google Dance" and there is a good chance it will come back in a few days. Don't focus too much on 1 article, just keep getting quality articles published on EZA, do the proper SEO for them and many of them will rank well in on Google. But keep in mind that some of them won't ... it's all part of the game and sometimes it's hard to predict exactly which articles will stick. Keep at it!

Also your articles initially appear on the high ranking/traffic pages on EZA so they will usually rank higher initially.

Like Matt said don't rely on one article - keep writing and targeting keywords then try and promote your best performing articles. It's worth building links to your most successful articles to keep them ranking high.

Good advice from Matt & Neil.

Article marketing is a bit like trying to put water in a bucket with a hole in. You've got to keep topping up the bucket, keep adding more articles. It takes work at first but it gets easier over time.

Eventually some of your articles will make a more or less permanent appearance in the search engines, some will hang around for a couple of weeks, some will never appear. If any of us knew precisely how to get articles to stick we'd make an absolute fortune!

Keep checking your stats at EZA - see which articles are getting the clicks - try to work out why.

It also helps to build up a volume of work somewhere that won't fade away - like your own blog.

    Thats normal...happens all the time.

If you want that article to consistently stay in the top 10 of page 1 of the SERPS, then build high PR backlinks to the article, for example, (you should bookmark your article to at least 30-40 "do-follow" social bookmarking sites, also submit the articles' RSS feed to 10 to 15 of the top RSS aggregators, etc. and do this over this course of 5-7 days or so....there is so much more you could do, but these are the main thing you do to keep you article in the first page of Google.

Those guys above have it right. A lot of times a blog will drop from Google all of a sudden. Squidoo, Blogger are notorious--and then, after a few days they pop back up. Google has a bunch of data centers and periodically they all sync their data and things get jumbled up for a few days until everything equilibriates.

Google says that the "Dance" doesn't exist anymore. It used to happen around the third week of the month frequently. Now they say that their data centers sync their data on a continual basis--and yet, what you describe happens all the time.

A note of caution. A lot of people with front page Google rankings see their blog or dot com site disappear and they panic and start tweaking the thing with every voodoo black hat op they can think of. But, left to its own it would come back in a few days. They mess up their site or blog with stuff and the--yup, they goof it up and their site never makes it back.

Be patient--you're not alone on this. It will likely come back soon. Your article got to the front page for a reason. Whatever that reason is, you can be sure that reason will get it back into the listings.

Sometimes when that happens to me I will do the same google search but include my name as it appears in the article resource box and see what pops up. If it shows on Google doing that I know it's still in the index but that the index is jumbled up for a while. They always come back.
