Looking for some Advice on Making a Website

I am starting an information broker business. I am looking for advice on what type of web presence you would do. In other words, would you do a blog or a website? Would you link through to facebook? How would you present yourself on facebok?

I am looking to have someone build it for me. I had over 100 websites a couple of years ago but got out of the online business as I didn't want to build any more sites. Now that I've been away from this for a while I need a refresher and some recommendations. Thanks.

A blog is better for the simple reason that it is easier to update. It is also easier to have a rss feed. Search engine love updates. Also a word press blog can be search engine friendly by installing a plugin called "all in one seo". If you are a warroom member there are two folks in there helping with wp set up. If you are not a warroom member I would strongly consider it. Adding facebook to your site is a no brainer of course you want to do that.

Whatever you decide to do online, I would build an authority site - a site with a lot of content. Google favours sites that always have fresh and relevant content. You could cover a lot of subjects on the site. Once you start building a momentum with a site and there are visitors coming, making comments and creating backlinks it will take on a life of its own.

More and more marketers are now turning to Facebook as a way of getting traffic to their main site by setting up a fanpage and then putting a lot of content on that as well.
