The ''curse'' of answered prayers ?

I was brought up by a bibliophile. And on knowledge acquisition, we had no disagreements at all. So, you can imagine how I feel in a book-store or a library. Like a child trapped in a candy store.

These days, I'm deluged by a flood of information, and it's a challenge. Please, how do you cope with INFORMATION OVERLOAD? In an era, where we now have libraries on our palms (mobile phones).

You have to sort, prioritize, plan, and layout what you want to focus on first. It's overload if you allow it to be and do nothing at all to set up an action plan for yourself. Even if you make a brief checklist of things you want to tackle for the day or week, and then commit yourself to trying to do or go through only that list. Yeah, there's an abundance of information out there, both good and misleading. Gotta try to keep focused as best as possible though. Best of luck...

This quote is usually attributed to Einstein: "I never memorize anything I can look up." Think of how much more processing space he'd have had today!

Have a plan and a goal and leave the rest to work and looking it up.

    Focus.

Once upon a time (), I had to read the books that were in my house. If I didn't have a particular book, I had to go check one out of the library, or buy one at the bookstore. If the library and bookstore did not have the book I wanted, I could not read it.

This condition of scarcity led me to voraciously consume one book after another simply because I wanted to read a book about something. When I ran out of books, I re-read them. Some books got read to tatters. Tom Sawyer. Huckleberry Finn. The Great Brain. Encyclopedia Brown. Sherlock Holmes.

Now we have a condition of abundance. If I want to read a book of funny stories plumbers tell about the left-handed Langstrom seven-inch gangley wrench, like the one where someone was trying to fix a Finley sprinkler head with it (except the Kensley manual says sprocket, not socket, LOL), chances are I can get a book about that on my Kindle in twenty seconds.

So I don't read whatever's around anymore. I read what I want to read. When I'm tired of it, I throw it away and read something else. I focus on the things I want. I'm more interested in where than what - I don't need to know the exact explanation of some particular thing, I just need to know where it is, and I can get it when I need it. Search has changed the world.

    I agree. FOCUS.

KNOW what you want. Information overload is a big problem associated with newbie internet marketers, but you've go to absorb and disregard according to your strengths/weaknesses.

    It will click.

    Don't rush it.

I think the hardest thing to do when starting out is to pick ONE plan and stick with it. It's very tempting to try to absorb and implement many things at the same time. It's like throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks, but it's not very successful because you're not giving your ALL to any one thing and the abandonment rate is high for all of the things you are trying.

FOCUS ... pick one thing. Stop seeking other information outside of that one thing until that is well under way and you are seeing success.

You don't have to DO only one thing for the long term, but you will never do one thing right until you master it. Only add additional information when you are successful at the first thing. The information will always be here. It's not going to disappear.

Agree with the sentiments here. Focus. I know it's appropriate even when you're trying to make it in Internet Marketing. The volume of information is overwhelming but you need to stay focused on what gets you going. Obviously that "thing" is different for each person. Be an expert in that one thing. Be the best on the planet.

Then move on to the next.

There is exactly one person in this thread besides the OP who has not said the word "focus." I think the matter is pretty much resolved.

I think a better word is restraint....

you dont need to buy read or learn about anything you dont need right now...

leave the books on the shelf untill you need them

Lol, I like how you put that Robert... that probably is a better way of putting it. Restraint from buying all kinds of WSOs and other products, researching and reading other methods, and so on, and never putting anything into action. Yeah, Restraint sounds like a great way to describe it. lol

when you are in college they never give you all the books for the entire course in one go...they give you just enough reading to do to get through the first semester.

When you master the basics...then you can move on to the advanced stuff
