Unsubscribing from all IM related lists makes you money

Hey guys, this is Alen.

I just wanted to take some time and talk about the shiny new object syndrome, information overload and all that stuff that pretty much destroys our chances to make this MMO thingy work.

When I first started in IM, I was buying new products every day, maybe even multiple times a day and I rarely took action and never really put them to use. When I look back now, I can't believe that I did that...I just saw that I spent over $5000 in 11 months alone, just for buying products! But I guess that is just part of the learning curve when you try to make money online...I see it as "education".

If you are finding yourself in that same situation, where you just don't know what to do, or you feel yourself overwhelmed with different money making strategies, you buy tons of products that sound good, but never really use them....well, there are some things you can do to avoid that in the future.

Of course, you can just stop buying products altogether, and actually use some of the products you already have on your computer. Most of the time they DO WORK. You just don't take action and you don't use your brain....YOU DON'T THINK. There is and will never be a strategy that will save you from having to think, just to clarify that. You'll probably also have to get outside your comfort zone to make them work, but ALL GROWTH HAPPENS OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE! Actually, people should be trying to get outside their comfort zone constantly, because only then you will grow and become successful.

Another thing you can do, and I found that this made the main difference in my business in the last couple of months, is to unsubscribe from pretty much every IM related list you are part of. I know it sounds crazy, I know a lot of you won't do it, but it works. Because if you always check your email, you get distracted ALL DAY and you actually never get something done. Of course, if you have a mentor and you follow his advice, then don't unsubscribe from that list. But you can unsubscribe from 98% of the lists you are part of.

So I hope that helps guys! Let me know what you think about that.

Cheers
Alen

These are 2 of the first things I teach to people

    Makes all the difference.

"READ THE MANUAL" before you go asking for help with a software product or give up on it all together.

Definitely stop buying products, and you just want to beat, "Take Action" into your brain. Take the action, but also finish that action. Don't give up on a project.

Also, this is kind of a small tip, I guess I can call it that. If your building a list, it could be a good idea to stay on at least one list to see how that person is mailing and get some ideas for your own list.

Taking yourself off all IM lists, I think is a bit extreme...At some point you have to FOCUS & have some will-power to resist the "shiny new toy" mind-set.....BUSINESS is like anything else, it doesn't work for you until you work it.

You just gotta decide to STOP being an addict and use the stuff the was so "great" and potentially useful....because it will work in most cases if you execute!

Totally cutting yourself off, means that you fall behind on whats going on around you, and becoming a dinosaur is never an option. You need to know what your industry is up too....Is it hard with so many great & wonderful things out here...Hell Yeah!!!....But if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!!! The blessing of business has to have some curses somewhere in there....It separates the non-committed & the real deal every time!!!

I think most newbies go through this at some point when they first get into internet marketing. After awhile most learn that buying product after product does not make you money, you must use the products and not store them in a nice little folder hoping it will turn into a money tree.

I personally am not on any internet marketing list, did away with them years ago. I do however still get spammed by a few self claimed top marketers that just refuse to let me off their list no matter how many times I unsubscribe.

This is what news websites are for You can actually read them at your own leisure and not worry about getting bombed about every new shiny object out there.

If you have already purchased a bunch of products and are on a bunch of lists and haven't had any success yet, it's time to get focused. I don't think you need to remove yourself from all your IM lists, but instead just narrow it down to your mentor if you have one and a few others that you respect and would like to be like. You do want to remove yourself from those that market new products on a daily or weekly basis.

Finally, sort all the products you purchased, pick the top ones you think will work best for you, and then take action.

If you are actually taking action and building your own list, then sometimes it's a good idea to stay on more than a few lists from other marketers. Use those emails as your personal swipe file. See what is working and what is not. Get as many ideas as you can from others. Take notice of subject lines that made you want to look inside.

If you can't control yourself from buying things you don't need, unsubscribing isn't the cure to your illness. The Internet will still call to you to buy things. Work on curing yourself. You can't go on blaming marketers for marketing to you when you are the one that can't take control of your wallet.

Not meant to be harsh, just being truthful.

Money making products will hardly ever teach you anything of real value, and everything you really need to know is already published for free like 'How To Use Web Hosting', 'How To Create A Website', 'How To Get A Web Address' . The only information product you need is Google.com and that's it, make it your homepage now! If you need help, JUST ASK, and ask anything! Somebody like here for instance will respond to you, I almost guarantee it.

Never feel stupid for asking lots of questions, you shouldn't care you should be asking as many as required for you to get the necessary information. I'm sure Richard Brandon feels stupid asking his own board of directors what's the difference between 'Net' and 'Gross' profit, and them having to explain it with pictures of fish in a net. But he doesn't care because he need to understand it in his way, and that's how you should approach this too.

I haven't unsubscribed from all, but a good chunk.
Not because they make me buy,I can control my buying, but because a lot of times they insult my intelligence or are just trying to make a buck off me and not give me anything of value in return.
For example I can understand that there are some good WSOs out there, but so many people are now trying to make affiliate commissions off them that with every release I get 20 emails touting how good it is and that I should buy through their link and these are the bonuses that they will give me if I do.
I unsubscribed from one today because in a matter of several hours I got 4,count them,4 emails from him.
All I have to say to ANY marketer that does that is,forgeddaboutit!
Utilize what you have and take action.

Oh yeah, someone I do buy from is Mr Kumar, his stuff is gold. But he doesn't email me to death.

Which is it? There is or there never will be. You can't have it both ways. if there is then there never will be is impossible. Maybe you meant there is not. It's a full moon and my WereWombat is loose.

OK I'm having a little fun there and that is the point of this reply to the OP.

    But first...

YES! If you are desperate for some money for medicine or if your car is stuck on the freeway and you don't have funds to tow it or if the fridge will be empty in 5 days and the kids will starve if you don't make some money NOW, it's not time to buy the new toy IM product. What it is time to do is make some money.

When there was a time I have faced one of the above I simply go to work and get the money, no time to play just go to work and get the money.

When It comes to Computer related stuff, IM, Website building, email, or even just plugging in a PC to make it work there is ALWAYS someone within walking distance who needs it done and will hand you $100 or the equivalent to do it.

When you are desperate to make some money Work on Shiny New Objects off.

Now the fun part. OK there are many different factions that post here on the forum. I couldn't possibly name them all but besides the "Desperate" ones there are at least 3 other factions. (In no way am I talking about scammers, Each of these are just out to make money for what ever reasons they need money and have chosen MMO to do it.)

!. Those who are happy making a quick buck for a living, to them it beats the heck out of "working for the man" to make a paycheck each week. The quickbuckers are not interested in "starting and maintaining a business" they just want money and would work a job to get money save the fact that when they work online they can do it kicked back in their comfy clothes and can make regular trips to the ATM to get PlayPal money.

    2. Those who want in time to build a business and are doing everything by the book to build a business. Right now they need regular paydays and are working IM like a job with a future business as a goal.

    3. Business men and women who believe with all there hearts that to be "for real" in life you must have and run a "Real Business," whatever that means to them.

My personal observation is that the number 3 group talks down to and even sometimes bullies with words the number 1 and 2 groups. Why? The ones I've met are not usually mean people. So I think they do this for the same reason parents "steer" kids to accomplish certain goals in life. They mean well but sometimes they are just trying to teach a pig to sing.

OK here is my bottom line for this longer than I meant it to be post.

Some people just really love to enjoy life (after all are we not told, find something that is your passion, something you would do for free to make money and you will not ever have to work a day in your life?) As I was saying, some people really love to have fun and much of the fun in this game of life IS buying all the shiny new objects. (HORROR! Did he really say that?)

Some people love reading and listening to all the latest and greatest MMO products. Back in the day they were books and magazines and tapes, now they are ebooks and MP3/4s.

Once in a while while reading those Glittering Goodies (hmmm I wonder if glitteringgoodies.com is taken) they pick up a little money maker, implement it and add to their stream of income.

    Just saying.

On a more serious note, or not, it's funny that most the people who say, "stop this or that," are selling "this or that"
