Really comprehensive list. If you're a newbie, pick two or three you think you might be interested in and research them extensively. When you understand what each means, make your choice of ONE and stick with that one for at least 6 months.

This is one of the biggest problems many new IM people face. With the sheer amount of information available, you end up trying many things and never mastering a single one of them. Focus on the ones that interest you and they will take you places!

Newbies can take a few of these and then go see what's selling well on Amazon to really narrow it down. It's also great for drilling down to a sub niche.

Great list Ryan - now for the part that most newbies never get...go TRY 1, 2, or 3 of these and THEN build your market around sharing the results you got.

You can make big money in any of these IF you are willing to take action and share the results with your market rather than just spouting theory.

    Ryan,
This a great list. Thanks for the information. I too would recommend that a newbie would narrow their sites on a couple of areas that look or sound interesting and then that they would dig in and Develop a long term project in one area. It is very easy to be a jack of all trades and a master on none. A master of one will pay well.

When I first started frequenting the Warrior forum I wondered why so many people were attracted to the IM niche. Now, some time later, I think there are three main reasons:
    1. It seems easier to make money in this niche. People buying IM products are doing so in order to make money and so, perhaps, are willing to spend more money that people shopping in another niche.
    2. Most people don't have indepth knowledge in any other area. That is, the only thing they have done anything like serious research in is Internet Marketing - and so this is the only subject they feel comfortable writing about.
    3. Everyone else (and his dog) seems to be in the IM niche.
If you want to try something else here are 5 great niches:

    (in no particular order)
    • geneology/family tree
    • public speaking (best man speech, mingling)
    • specific anxiety (gambling addiction, paranoia, etc.)
    • local guide books
    • specific dating/pick up info (what to say in text messages, etc.)
In order to succeed in these niches you will need strong IM knowledge but you'll also need to spend $$$ on high quality content. Unless you're a great writer and researcher and then you'll need to spend $$$ on high quality IM services.

IM niche is profitable if you know what you're doing.

I think it's best to learn IM and then get some experience in a different niche first before attempting to sell to other people learning IM.

One advantage of this is that competition is WAY less in some of these niches and this is particularly true when it comes to ranking for organic keywords.

Ryan great information. There's alot of sub niches in that list. Could even break down the sub niches even further, that's the nice part about the IM niche. As stated above I would agree it's probably better to get some experience in a niche that is not so competitive.

Great list! What I suggest for a newbie is that they should team up with someone who has been in IM for a considerable time and first learn the trick of the trade. The best practice is not to look for a niche which is making the most sales but to find what you think you would like to buy and know something about it. The biggest reason for failure is when a person selects a niche about which they have no idea and want to make money from them. Remember, every thing sells on the internet provided you know how and who to sell.
