Looking to create an article directory on my Wordpress site. Suggestions?

Hey Warriors,

I've currently got a site that sells my own products, and it has a blog. But I was thinking of really expanding it with articles with it's own unique article directory as well. I would like to monetize these articles with Adsense, etc. I'm not wanting to monetize my blog posts with Adsense.

I would also like this directory to be open to new authors to sign up, and publish articles with their own sig link, etc. with my approval.

Long story short...are there any really good, stable, Wordpress plugins you can recommend for a solid article directory that does all these things plus I can customize to match the theme of my site?

Thanks!

    Anyone have any ideas?

Basically, I want to put up my own articles in the blog, but then I want it's own article directory as well where I can add articles in bulk, etc. but still have highly SEO'd titles or permalinks...and also maintain the look of the site so it's cohesive.

I did just that and now have 355794 published articles and 63418 registered authors.

The main benefit is that after forcing a second opt-in and sorting out the wheat from the chaff I have a list into 5 figures from the exercise.

I used this plug in Article Directory WordPress Plugin » Article Directory

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check it out!

I think that there may be better options out there now as that plug in seems to be no longer supported by the developers.

There is a guy who helped me out for a reasonable price in adapting it a while back, his name is Wilson and he is a really competent Wordpress magician. His skype is wilsonmaina

You do not need an "article directory plugin" for wordpress, because WP already has EVERYTHING out the box you need.

The only, actually available so called "article directory plugin" for wordpress is nothing more than a theme and and then a way to display categories on the front page - it's totally unneeded and redundant.

You can make any wordpress site into a "article directory" with Users to be able to login and submit articles (User roles author, contributor etc.) , the rest is how you place your widgets eg. so people can login/sign-up etc. right from the front page...and displaying categories whatever on the front page so it "looks" more like an article directory as opposed to a more "blog like" look.

I just didn't want to overwhelm the "blog" portion of my site, and readers with a bunch of articles all at once. If I have an article directory as well, I could post more articles there. That was my thinking at least.

Totally agree. What you need is a good design, not a plug in.

    Dayne,

I am getting ready to release a WSO next week that involves the directory Barry is talking about. It's a great way to set up a directory as you want. The problem at the moment is the fact that the theme and plugin are no longer supported, but that really is not a big problem.

I wrote an eBook that goes through the whole setup process and also has areas that cover a couple of fixes you will need to do in order for authors to post articles on your site.

Now, you need to set up the directory as I explain in the eBook so that you can eliminate 95% of the spam and dirt-bag posters out there. Once it is setup this way, you won't be getting a bunch of crappy spun articles and most importantly, you won't be getting a bunch of auto post to your site either.

If you want, send me a PM as soon as possible and I will send you my report at no cost or optin. No problem! I will be having an entire video setup and a spam listing of over 4000+ Ip addresses as part of the WSO.

Anyway, if you just want a copy of my eBook and see if this is for you, then let me know via PM and all I ask for in return is a review from you...

    Thanks,

    Gary
