Targeting Spanish speakers market - Mexico or Spain preferred?

Hey guys...

I wanted to as a really quick question to those like me using SEO for their niche marketing...

If you want to target the Spanish speaking market, which country would you really prefer to target the most, is it Mexico or Spain?

Please help me out if you already have some experience in this field.

Cheers
Precious

Having spent a lot of time in Mexico, I speak mostly Mexican Spanish (With an accent from the Southern portion of Mexico appropriately enough ... for those that know me LOL) but as far as targeting the markets, it would have to depend on where most of your potential client base/customers would be coming from. I would do some testing perhaps, to see where the majority of traffic and conversions were coming from and focus on that. There are enough similarities in the languages to successfully target both markets but there are also enough differences to make it relevant in certain circumstances. Depending on the ultimate decision, colloquialisms, slang terms and other aspects may come into play but for the most part, if you stick to textbook Spanish (Focusing primarily on Spanish from Spain) and limit the use of vosotros, you should be able to successfully market both audiences at the same time.

    Just my initial thoughts.

Hi, don't forget the USA there are 40 MILLION+ native Spanish speakers who live in North America. A further point as mentioned above is that you need to avoid some of the South American dialects unless you are specifically marketing to them. I live in Spain and speak decent Spanish but often have great difficulty understanding some of the South American accents, Marc
