Hi there,

Is BackupBuddy the best at what it does, or are there better alternatives?

    They may be good. As you can do a one click cloning and backup BUT there is an annual fee which you need to pay to continue getting the updates with BackUpbuddy.

    If you're not into creating too many blogs, I would suggest you to go with an easy way like installing free DB back up plugins and get your DBs emailed to you every night/fortnight. As far as the files are concerned you can download them every month since most of the changes you do in your wordpress sites go into DB and not really in file system ( images, downloads go into file system)

    I'm uncertain why you would pay for a backup solution at all? Just manually backup the files, it's too easy... but I guess I can see the need for automation if you're running hundreds of blogs...

      You're right. If you only have a couple of sites then it's pointless to buy something like back buddy. But if you own a lot of blogs or have client blogs it's crucial that you don't simply rely upon your host to back them up. I had my sites hacked earlier in the year and my host couldn't do anything for me. I had to rebuild them all by hand (nightmare!).
