Problem with AWeber and Spam indicator at 10

Hi guys,
This is my first post, so I would like to introduce myself. My name is Marcelo, I am currently working as a part-time Internet Marketer, and my main job is .Net Web Developer. My plan is to develop my own business online, and I am near to accomplish my goal, as soon as I earn the same as I do as a web developer, I will start a full-time Internet Marketer job for myself. And happily I am not that far .

So, enough with the chit-chat, let's go to the question:
I am having some bizarre issues in AWeber when I configure my Follow Up messages. I place the links and do the regular stuff I've been doing for the past year and half, and booom the Spam detector goes to 10 immediately.

The message that make it jump to ten is the following:

URL in RHS_DOB blocklist. Remove before sending.

Url in Blocklist? My domain is less than a week ago, it cannot be in a block list. Also with my other domains I don't have this problem, and I don't spam, I promote products to my list, so my domain shouldn't be in a block list.
Any thoughts guys?

Kind regards.
Marcelo

Are you redirecting to domain to an affiliate product or CPA offer?

If so, that could be why.

Try to use free redirectors like bit.ly and see what happens. The domain is probably the culprit.

Check this helpful article from Aweber. It may also be due to the subject line. They have a list of words (medication, mortgages, making money, and pornography) which they say are guaranteed to send the spam meter north. Try not to have those in your subject.

Also I wrote an article on How to reduce your complaint rates with Aweber. It may help you. (although it's related to after you have sent the message.)

Thank you all guys for the replies.
With these emails I promote an affiliate product. But it's not the first domain that I use to promote stuff in my business, only that this is the first time this happened. I use to use the same template and methods for the design. Also I am using a cloaking software, just something like bit.ly.

Testing the email it goes straight to my Inbox, so it is working fine and not detected as spam. So something else is bothering the emails, I will read the articles you shared with me geekology, maybe I find an answer there.
    Thanks!

I've just had the same problem with a new domain. AWeber sent me to a link called The Day Old Bread List. The domain is mine and there are no affiliate links within the email.

Apparently if a site is under five days old (mine's a week old) it 'could' trigger the spam filters. Here's the quote:

"The dob list is a DNSRBL that contains domains registered within the last five days. The list is currently in BETA and should be used accordingly. We still have some kinks in it and occasionally domains older than five days, or other important domains end up in the list. CAVEAT EMPTOR"

So they're admitting that mistakes could be made.

They want you to sign up to have the domain unblocked with Support Intelligence which is what I've done.

Short term solution: direct people to a blog post and link to your sites from there.

      Hope that helps.

I ran into this a couple weeks ago.

Sites that are brand new fire off a high spam score, because they are new.

I think the documentation said any site 5 days old or less... Because spammers change domain names frequently.

I've just run into this too, but my domain is a good 6-8 months old.
I was adding a followup email and the spam meter just rocketed to 10.

No idea why. Out of my list I've had 1 Spam complaint so no idea why this is going on.

Does seem a bit peculiar that it's just started happening to us over the last few weeks though, perhaps something not quite right with this "Day Old Bread" algorithm.

I'm going to try a redirect to see what happens...

    Paul.

OK, redirect using bit.ly worked. Spam score now down to 0 so I'm good to send. This should be the case for anyone else having issues (I would hope anyway).

Also, I've sent an email to this "bread" comapny and await their response,

    P.

This happened to me as well. And I'm telling you I send out quality stuff.

Anyway, I really don't know what's going on. I tried the Google URL shortener,
and that got rid of the high spam score +10 points problem, but my emails are
      still appearing in spam folders.

I assure you guys, the last thing I am sending is spam. I have been in this
Internet Marketing game for 3 years now, and I know that spam gets you
      absolutely nowhere...

I am in Italy and the same thing happened to me, but why are years that I use Aweber and I do not ever anything. I skied by sending mail to the membership and I adopted a classification system 12.

    Hi Guys,
Not sure if this is coincidental, but I sent the following email to the DOB support email address and my spam score has now gone back to 0.

    *** START OF EMAIL***
    Hi there,

I am trying to queue some new emails in my Aweber autoresponder, but in the spam assassin check it is flagging it as a "10" indication there is a very high chance my emails are going to end up in the spam folder.
My domain (REMOVED) and the URL (REMOVED) have been used in previous emails over the last 4-5 months and have never caused a problem let alone a SPAM flag.

Aweber reports that it is your systems generating this so I would like the matter investigated please.

Out of the thousands of emails I have sent via Aweber I have only ever had one person report it as SPAM, and they later apologised as they thought my email was from someone else.

This can have a disastrous consequence on my fledgling online business if it isn't remedied soon, so anything you can please do would be GREATLY appreciated,

    Thanks in advance,
    Paul Irvine
    *** END OF EMAIL***

Again, could just be coincidence, or it could be the answer. Either way I'm working again so suggest doing something similar!

    Good luck,
    Paul.

Hi Chris. The problem, at least for me anyway was the 10+ was appearing in the spam score column but nothing reported in the reasons section (spam assassin scoring window).

It was simply a Blacklisted by <filter name> that was causing the problem.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

I also suddenly got the same spam score & error messgae yesterday, which I never got before for all of my similar messages. I then noticed that I forgot to include a text version of my HTML message - I am thinking maybe that is it and the error message is just wrong.

Did you have a text version of your message?

If you run HTML only with no text, that carries a spam score of 1.7 in Aweber.

I noticed today that my gplus.to nick was causing the spam indicator to go up to 10.

I had the same thing happen to me. So i just waited 24 hours, then went back to Aweber and re-saved the article... and the spam meter was 0.
