Best place to rent an email list that works

I'm not sure how effective renting an email list is. I'd like to give it a shot. Has anyone here tried it? How effective is it? And, where is the best site to rent one?

If you take a look at the JV section of the WF you will find quit a few solo add providers.

If you're looking to buy email space, otherwise called soloads, you'd better check out safe-swaps and buy only from sellers with good ratings.

Yes, soloads can be very effective when done right.

      Yes, use both.
But let the buyer beware... Even reviews can be faked.

Great suggestions and warnings. I would just add that regardless of the truth of the testimonials, your particular email subject line, copy, landing page and sales funnel may produce completely different results (which could be better or worse). The best possible solo ad situation in my opinion is one where the vendor has concentrated lists targeted around a specific type of offer. For example, someone who has an IM list is good, but someone who has an IM list built on offers for mobile marketing information (or any other subniche) would be worth much more (if you have the same type of offer or at least closely related offer of course).
