Gross! Would This offend the Diet Niche.

Hi All,

Many moons ago I decided I wanted to set up a Domain just for my email. While 4 character URLs were still available I Got TOGW.com

TO (To) GW (George Wright) So now I could have George @ TOGW.com

Well I've grown to love Gmail and wouldn't use anything else. Soooo

I've been trying to find a Phrase for which I could use TOGW as an acronym.

The only Phrases I could find on the entire net is an obscure reference to geonome research so that wouldn't work and this one; Take Off Gross Weight.

Of Course this is referring to weighing things where you you are measuring the gross weight of something and the definition of gross is "Total" I.E. Gross Income, weight, etc.

The term Gross has another meaning tantamount to, Horrible, Ugly, Disgusting, ETC.

Do you think that a Diet site playing on the common term "Take off gross weight" but applying it to to a person who needs to lose weight, would be offensive to the diet Niche?

My personal opinion is that its a good idea. One of the things that makes good marketing is having a name or slogan that really stands out. I'd go for it!

You could make up your own acronym instead. Tips On Gaining Weight?. Quite a lot of us try to put on weight instead of shedding it - I've no idea how big the market is, but I'd imagine more people search for gaining weight than gross weight.

I don't think this niche would be offended by just the word gross. If you want to know what gross is just look at some of the pictures on the Clickbank top seller site Top Secret Fat Loss Secret. LOL

This is such a coincidence. As I was reading your post a lady was on TV from a country where the men consider the most attractive women to be overweight, have stretch marks and be divorced. She said Women there would do anything there to gain weight.

Or, instead of the diet niche, weight loss etc., get into muscle and body building business:

The one and only - "Testoster-One George Wright" - needs a bit of thought that one!

Sorry - just being a bit facetious - nice thread though - serious intentions on your part, but nevertheless a lot of the postings have made it a welcome refreshment from the rigors of the day.

The term could motivate the people that are overweight to take action. If they think their situation is "gross" it feeds (no pun intended) on their emotions to buy your product to lose weight.
