Simple Tweak to Increase Your Squeeze Page Conversion by 13%

Hey guys,

I just wanted to share some quick test results from our business.

A while back we added an exit pop on our squeeze page.

So when someone exits the squeeze page - they go to a different
squeeze page (different design but the same offer).

This one little tweak has increased our conversions by 13%.

Super easy way to get a bump in conversions.

Thanks Kim for the idea. Now is the exit popup a literal "pop-up"... or is it a hover ad that is unblockable?

    Hey Randall,

It's a dialog box that comes up when they try to exit - asking if they
want to stay on the page or leave. (This is AFTER they've been taken
    to the new page.)

    I haven't tested a hover-type pop-up. Definitely something to consider!

Thanks Kim.. Are you using it through optimize press or is there a specific plugin you're using to achieve this result?

    Thanks, Paul

    Hey Paul,

It's actually just a really simple javascript.

The link is in my signature. Just view source and it's at the very
bottom of the page. Feel free to use it yourself. Just change
the link for the exit page

      Kim,

I just wanted to add that you cannot simply copy and paste the javascript at the bottom of your HTML. If you do, then the popup will be activated when they submit the form, as well as when they try to exit the page. you don't want that to happen.

To fix this, you must alter the <form> tag. You have done this on your page, which is why it does not trigger the popup message when you opt in.

Here is what the form tag should look like...

      Code:
      <form method="post" class="af-form-wrapper" action="http://www.aweber.com/scripts/addlead.pl" onSubmit="throughlink();" >
Notice the addition of the last part that starts with onSubmit? That is needed to ensure the popup does not trigger when they enter their email address and click submit.

I hope this helps anyone that has been struggling with this.

      Cheers,
      EBR

P.S. The page loading in the background works flawlessly on FireFox, but some newer versions of IE will not display the new page, unless you click the "Stay" button.

Hey Kim - this method does indeed work. Sometimes a change of wording is all that's needed to convince someone to sign up... The exit pop-up is a fantastic way to squeeze out (excuse the pun) every last optin possible.. thanks for sharing.
