Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing can be very profitable. But as every body says the money is in the list. So, step one, build a list.

It isn't that Google doesn't like Affiliate Links. Google doesn't like web pages especially created to promote Affiliate Links/Promotional Links. If you create a quality content page ending with an Affiliate Link, you have a better chance to get ranked in SE.

To answer OP - Choosing a product is the most important part of Affiliate Marketing. Some of the profitable niches are IM, Weight Loss, Muscle Build, Self Help, Dating. Choosing a product from one of these niches will be good for you. In short, choose a niche/product where people have serious problems, and are willing to pay in order to get a thorough solution.

How to increase sell - well it depends on method to method. The entire strategy will depend on which method you chose to promote your Affiliate Product. And this is really a vast topic to discuss about. However, I can add one thing here - testing is all that matters to learn to increase sells. Test Test and Test to learn everything. One person's solution might not apply to your problem. You gotta find your way to increase sell.

In essence, Affiliate marketing is where you market/advertise someone elses product for a commission of sales. There are two important factors when considering what to be an affiliate of.

First as everyone has said here. You need to start building a list. But even with 1 person on your list you can start affiliate marketing. It is never too early.

Second you need to find a good product that you stand behind. You (or atleast) I don't want to send people an offer that I would not buy myself.

I also agree that Affiliate marketing is much more profitable then AdSense, but I'd stay way from clickbank, they have way too many crappy products and services on there. Linkshare and sellhealth are going to give you much fewer headaches...

One thing to keep in mind, opportunist86, is success won't come overnight! Continue building content and a network, and then you'll start to see some traction.

Affiliate marketing is where you are a 'commission only' sales
person. If you sell someone else's product you will get a commission.

If you do not sell anything you do not get paid.

A great strategy is to go and look at the Amazon Best sellers.
There you will see hot product that are in demand and are selling.

Affiliate marketing is a great business modal. It does take time
to get momentum and generally not the fastest way to make
money for a complete beginner, however it's probably the best
place to start.

I understand the power of affilate marketing but I look at how many of the same offers I recieve from different marketers, seems it would be hard to build a list that isn't already getting slammed with offers

Look for good quality continuity programs. That can be very rewarding.

As well as the comments above it is possible to pursue affiliate marketing through your own websites without a list, though you have to build up traffic to the sites in order to do this. It is possible to start a blog site and incorporate Amazon products easily and use automated guest posts (there are sources of good unique posts which you can receive free and automatically to a blog) for most of the content. My experience is that this will generate a certain amount of traffic without any further work though not enough to generate an income. It is however an excellent way to start getting some visitors. Then you would to do some link building and article marketing to build the site's popularity.
The other thing you should consider is that there is affiliate marketing based on digital products such as clickbank but there is a whole load of other real world products which you can promote though getting accepted into affiliate programmes is not always easy.

Just a case of picking one of the millions of afflate products that are online, and then promoting it via your lists of socal networks etc, there is big money to be made in this area.

Let us assume you are an affiliate and I am a merchant.


You (affiliate) have a busy web site. I (merchant) have an e-com website where I am selling my products /services online. I have setup a 3rd party affiliate software (Euraffiliates) , install, integrate with my website, personalize it with my own settings, setup some links and tell the prospective affiliates (like you) to join and publish the links.

You sign up from your web site as my affiliate. You place my link on your site. The link contains your unique marker. When someone goes from your site to mine and buys a product, you get credited with the commission I have agreed to pay. You get credited even if the visitor who buys comes back to me months later and directly to my site. I pay me once in a month or when it exceeds a threshold amount whichever is later.

A two tier affiliate programme additionally rewards the affiliate in the chain, if any, who had referred the first affiliate. And a three tier affiliate programme also reward the 3rd level affiliate.

The secret is … The link carries an affiliateID, sometimes in a hidden manner, and the get saved in customer cookie file on the even he clicks an affiliate link and reaches the my (merchant) website. It stays in his computer unless the expiry date comes or he has deleted it manually. So when he buys, say after 10 days aftrer the first visit, it immediately finds the ID from cookie, and it generates the commission for the affiliate concerned immediately. And if it is you get the commission. Everything is transparent. A good affiliate software log can help you to track every visitor’s click who goes from your site to the merchant(my) site. Not all affiliate program is better than adsense. But those pays well and fits to your website may yield more money than adsense.
