Video marketing without showing myself

I happen to be someone who appreciates his anonymity, and for some reason just feel weird when people can see my face.

Now, I was wondering, is there anyway I can effectively do video marketing, without ever showing myself? I have seen some info products with voiced-over videos that only show text (maybe a few images), and I know they work well for sales pages.

But, does that same strategy work well on YouTube? Has anyone done this effectively?

While have a person in the video helps, one of the most engaging aspects of many marketing videos can actually be the audio.

      Think about it...

Would you rather listen to someone who is engaging and insightful speak for 5 minutes on the virtues of your product or have someone who looks like they know what they are talking about but has no personality or engagement?

Just because it is video marketing, does not mean it is all about the visuals. You can always create a brand or familiarity using a logo or color scheme in place of an actual person. If your pitch is proper, whether there is a person in the video or not is much less important.

You'll have zero problem using camtasia and doing voice over work. To be completely honest I don't care what you look like, what your surroundings look like or how professional your set looks.

I want to know what you're offering, is anything validated, does it look feasible and will it help me make money. If anything, full around with some video editing software to have callouts and graphics added. Glitz it up a little, but remember we love content.

Moving and animating text and picture can be much more involving than people-watching as well...

Reading text headlines while listening to voice-overs can really drive a message home. I have some very succesful YT videos which feature this. It's better to use interesting and animated text snippets, together with graphics though; not just some dodgy background with a screen full of plain text.

    Hey KimboJim,

Talking over a slide deck is very effective no matter what
    you are doing.

Remember it's all about the customer. It's not about you.

As long as the information is going to be loved/needed/valuable
for the person watching it. It doesn't matter if your face isn't shown.

    Hope this helps.

Believe me, as a copywriter I know content is what matters. I just didn't know if this would be successful for off-page video marketing, since I rarely do that.

Content is certainly King, moreso then ever. However, I totally disagree with the anonymity approach. I have found much better success by showing my face. The reason is, people respond better to human interaction. When you have good content, it is much more digestable coming via a human, then graphically with a voiceover.

Anyway, just food for thought from my experience. Good luck.

Most marketing videos I've seen were created with programs such as Camtasia. I think they are just fine and most of the time I like them better than just seeing someone talk. I'd only film myself if I had a membership site and would record a message to my members. Other than that, I go with Camtasia.
