Corey Rudl is Rolling Over

I just discovered the purchase links at the Internet Marketing Law Center's marketingtips.com site are dead. So is the affiliate program. Probably been that way for a long time. Maybe I'm the last to figure this out

The 'new' site, internetmarketing.com, is not exactly setting the net on fire.

This was the one IM company I thought could have continuation beyond it's founder.

Really sad to see.

Even the biggest names in this market are still mostly one-man bands.

    Brian,

Shortly after I bought his course a zillion years ago, he had the accident. I received the files in South Africa (all physical stuff) after his death but I have never forgotten him and the impact he had on my life. I still have that information although a lot of it is out of date.

His friend that took over never really had the same passion for it I am afraid to say.

They're still around. The url has changed to internet marketing.com. Seems to be the same as it was a few yrs. ago. Derek Gehl took over after Corey died. I don't know if he's still around. Derek was Corey's right hand man from what I understand.

If Derek is still running the show, might we assume that he was more Corey's "left-hand man", because the right-hand would have never let the links go dead.

      Derek is long gone.

      On the original site ...

Products links go to dead ends. How hard is it to forward a link to a new site where the product is offered?

Many products have been abandoned. The marketing tips newsletter stopped in 2009. The current newsletter, if it could be called that, doesn't have a functioning opt-out or autoresponder that it is attached to.

The 'new' site does not have the same sales pages. If you could even call them sales pages.

Have you seen the product pages at internetmarketing . com?

Tip of the day: if your company founder and legend sold $40 million online, don't think you're smarter and trash all that marketing and start from scratch with your own idea of marketing should be.

Tip #2 of the day: For a company originally infamous for testing, including multiple tests during the day, if your new marketing does not sell tens of millions like the old marketing, go back to the old marketing.

I find this very sad. I paid for the huge physical product they used to sell. I also went to a London 2 day seminar. The team of people were great.
It set me up very well and I was clueless in 2007. One of my products from that time is still selling very well.
What went wrong? I have some ideas having been on the mailing list but it is a shame.

man oh man, Corey was legend and his teachings are ever ingrained in the roots of IM. he knew his stuff 110% and literally paved the roads for commonly used things in IM today like autoresponders and affiliate programs.

sad to see what has happened to all his hard work

Something was going wrong there for quite a while. I went to one of their seminars in New York, around 2006-2007. Derek was the main speaker and was quite good. The seminar was geared toward building profitable sites, and believe it or not, they could make one for me, for just $7000.00 that was guaranteed to make that back quickly.

I got stupid I bought one at the seminar. They guaranteed it would be up and running within 60 days. Three months later I hadn't heard from them once. I started calling, and got the run around big time.

To make a long story short, it took me 6 months to get my money back, but they did give it back, and never made the site for me. So I think there have been problems there for a long time. Corey was great, and I bought a few of his products when he was alive, but I don't think it has been the same company, since he died.

I have thought about what would have to my IM empire if I left (I want to move onto to bigger and better things from IM one day).

In Good to Great, the idea of this is talked about tremendously. In the industry of IM, it's pretty much just one person. In a huge corporation, it better be more than one person regardless of how good the CEO is.

Just found out that Derek retired. The old links are dead but there are new links. The main site is Internet Marketing.com. They change the marketing course over to web base. The new name is insider secrets. Expert Tools and Training to Start Your Moneymaking Web Business. Not an aff link.

Derek is no longer with the company...

I think their main demise was brought on by the fact that they marketed a lot of dead end products and never really competed in the market beyond their original info products.

Products like Asoctrac, Mailloop, their desktop messaging app and their FFA blaster etc were never really good. Mailloop for example required you to send mail through your ISP... not exactly a feasible concept for real internet marketers.

Essentially the only quality products that they put out where the Internet Marketing Secrets course and the Secrets to their success which at the time were among the best info products on the market.

They just never hit the market with anything new or viable after Cory's death and frankly Cory had not put out anything that ground breaking for quite some time so his company was mainly floating on its legendary reputation and excellent marketing strategies.

If they had developed some great SaaS to meet new market needs or kept pushing out the info products then it would be a different story.

I am one of the many that benefited from Internet Marketing Secrets and the Secrets of their Success paid newsletter early on and will be grateful to Cory for his contribution. I purchased 90% of the products. The info products were great their software not so much.

Exactly. The company I used to work for bought a lot of his stuff. We used mail loop for contact lists of over 100k and I managed it all. Let's just say our ISP threatened to shut us down a few times We moved on, but it still had a few handy tools that I use once in a while. Personally, I never cared for Derek so I stopped following the company after Corey was gone. It was a pretty sad deal though after going through his main video course.

Nature of the beast. The kind of business Corey had tends not to work as a corporation.

Nothing against Derek, but even under his helm you had the paradox of IMC employees trying to give high level entrepreneur coaching. Not much different from those outsourced training upsells that have since mostly been discredited.

I seem to recall they had a Warrior membership a year or two ago. User name: Internet Marketing Center.

Didn't exactly make for comfortable interaction.

I still have my "Insider Secrets Course" Binder, 2007 version sitting on the floor next to my desk. If it hadn't been for that course, I wouldn't have started my IM journey.

I never knew Corey but I followed Derek Gehl quite a bit. I bought their do it yourself web software "Bebiz" and that really helped me learn how to do websites. I've since ditched it and the $50 per month fee for Wordpress but it was useful to me at the time.

I also used Ebook Pro, their ebook security software for a couple of years which worked well for a time, but I since moved on to simple PDF ebooks. Good thing as current Ebook Pro users are now being charged $37 per month just to continue to use the software.

Seems things have gone down hill over there. Chuck Anderson is the only face they have right now. I also heard new owners bought the company so maybe they are in a transition process.

Just checked; I have the 2004 version. Bought it after I bought "Car Secrets Revealed" -- back when I was selling cars!

Bought the other course for a job change... Thankfully I got a call from a computer security contractor and all has been great -- very great! -- since then.

Sorry to hear about all this. It was a great system, offered at an affordable price -- and as is obvious from this thread, helped a lot of people.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Really sad to see that. I learned a whole lot from Corey back
then. I was just fresh out of university and just getting into the
Internet then. He and others like Terry Dean were really very
instrumental to lots of the current IM folks today.
