Making a video - (question)

GOOD MORNING CAMPERS!!!

One of my near term projects is making an actual, live video (as opposed to a Camtasia project).

My question is, how have you dealt with the issue of posting a script that you can read? I don't have a teleprompter handy.

Any thoughts, advice??

One thing you could do is write out an outline of what you want to say in big letters on an easel or something.

This way your dialogue stays fresh but you still are organized.

Or, if you need word-for-word, use the easel again and when you get to the bottom of the page, cut the camera, shift position and page, then restart again.

    Hope this helps,

You more than likely will just need to do several takes, keeping the camera rolling. You can use a computer monitor and use Word or PowerPoint to display your text in a large font.

Search Goole for teleprompter software called Prompt!.

It's free and available for both Windows and the Mac. Run Prompt! on a laptop and put a small table (I use a music stand) Just below the camcorder's lens.

Another thing you can do without much effort is shoot yourself reading it twice -- once wider out, including your shoulders and arms, and once closer in, including only your head.

Then if you mess up, you can cut between the two angles (using only the good parts) and it will actually make the visuals more interesting and easier to watch.

Since you will really only have to cut once or twice, this is easily done with Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. Hope that helps; let me know if it can be clearer.

Great tips. Thanks guys. I'd already thought of doing a few 'takes' and splicing them together for a better appearing video. And using my laptop as a teleprompter is perfect. I'll check out the Prompt! software shortly - that's exactly what I was hoping to find.

As always, there's somebody on the WF that can answer questions like mine. Thanks!!
