Hosting in Germany for US traffic?

Hetzner offers insane dedicated (i7 quad core, 32GB RAM, 6TB HD) server (EX4S plan) for < $80/mo.
Similar US hoster would charge close to 10x for that.

The problem is most of my traffic is from US.
Problematic?

    Try to ping some sites from US and Germany and compare difference between them (ping difference/rank for same search term).

    Yeah, but apple-to-apples would be to know exactly who hosts at Hetzner, which i don't.

    Concern is whether Google will rank high US site for US terms hosted in Europe.

    If there is slight difference you shouldn't have problems to rank for US results.
