I want REAL examples!

I see so many offers with testimonials but so often, there is no way to validate if the testimonials are real, or see the product or service in action, or see actual successes. It seems to me that one of the best ways to validate an offer is to see real examples, and talk to real people who benefited (not just read testimonials).

I understand what you're saying. However, this is what I'd say to those who want to see real examples with undeniable proof:

There are MANY ways to make a living online..literally THOUSANDS. Stop looking for proof from others and just get to work. So what if someone else makes $20,000/day using business method xyz? That doesn't mean you will. What you will accomplish is up to YOU and YOU ONLY.

I don't care about testimonials. I only get courses, software, plugins only if I need them and they do exactly what I need. If the seller shows the product and what you can find that, it's enough for me.

Or talk to people I know and validate the testimonials.

Someone else's proof doesn't matter at all. One man or woman's unique story is built up with too many variables too measure. There is no way to duplicate someone else's success. Why do you think the bulk of people fail even after they have a gurus so called secrets revealed?

I agree with you Legit. The other thing is, you can have "testimonials" that also have "results" as well... so that doesn't necessarily say much at all.

And you then have the stories of those who stated they "made $3500 in a week" from their products, and show you their video login of the real $3500 sitting in their Paypal account... but, that $3500 could've been an accrual of months of work... they won't show you the full blown out picture, only "3500 USD" to have you say "wow! He DID do it!"

And even if he shows you that he's made xyz every day, that's not to say he doesn't have other ventures out there that actually made him that. So seeing the proof doesn't necessarily mean it's actual proof... we'd of course hope it is, and more than not, maybe it is..

I agree with Legit, with many ways to make money online, you're better off pushing through to make your money. Someone may be great at affiliate marketing and you follow their exact plan and don't do well with it... but you may then find great results in CPAs whereas someone else is poor at them.

I am of the same mentality that the testimonials of other systems are just that. Testimony of what worked for one person. The way I use my affiliate marketing is totally unique compared to most others.

What I tend to find is those who are successful at this business already have a solid amount of business savvy and the affiliate marketing systems are merely TOOLS for them to accomplish the business they want. That's how I look at it anyway.

I don't think a couple of the other posters in this thread understood your post
That's the favorite part of the testimonials -- they often appear right after purchase when the buyer is still euphoric.

I take testimonials with a grain of salt, but you can get a glimpse of the product's potential with enough testimonials, especially ones that actually have some Xs and Os attached.

Yea I know what you mean. I see many of the WSOs, and nearly all of the testimonies are prior to actually putting the product to work. I don't understand why people leave feedback BEFORE trying the product. It makes no sense to me. Sorry for ranting, but it is insane to leave feedback before you actually try what you have bought.

There's a Catch-22 ~~ people don't want to buy a product prior to having testimonials posted, but others don't want testimonials until the product has been implemented, "tested" and "proven".

The challenge, of course, as others have said, is that what works for one may not work for another.

However, I don't believe that makes all testimonials fallacious. If I give a testimonial on a product prior to testing it myself, it is based on my intelligent analysis of the concept or idea and the way it is presented, not a claim that I made a million bucks doing it. When I read testimonials, that is also what I am looking for as a buyer.

Then, the responsibility is on me to apply healthy skepticism prior to purchase, do my due diligence and then buy or not based on my current needs, as SamuelUherek suggests. Frankly, it's a rare marketplace that has an open forum for feedback, both before and after purchase, so I welcome the communication. All screened by my own personal smarts.

I research items first before buying. Any testimonials can be faked, and in fact, i hardly buy any products these days also.

I follow other peoples examples by seeing it first hand, by going thru their sales funnel, or how they build their websites. This is the easiest way to take your way to build your business, or make pocket money.

I think this is another benefit on being on the forum. Your due diligence is a tad bit easier.
In the case of WSOs, there is no one stopping you from contacting the testimonial writer and asking if the product is still working for them. A quick pm can either confirm or reverse your decision to buy.

For other purchases, I take it all in stride. From time to time even physical products fail to live up to their expectations. I have a whole drawer full of the "next big thing" doohickyies.

It sounds like what you are seeking are complete case studies that show you from start to end how something works.

That certainly would make it more likely I would buy. However, seeing people that are using the product, not just "testimonials" is stronger evidence that the product is worthwhile.

        You are absolutely correct.

You "get" marketing. I love it. You've just made my day.

I have reviews enabled on my ecommerce site. I have the ability to edit or delete reviews before they go live. But I never remove a bad review, because it's just as valuable as a glowing testimonial.

With IM products, there are review sites but it's hard to find a genuine unbiased review, since so many are tainted with affiliate links.

Exactly, and towards your point, for the most part I generally skip all testimonials or whore mongering, and then proceed to pages 2+ to read actual user examples..any pain points, developer responses and all of that. I get a better feel for the offering that way.

          Very well put.

My thoughts were exactly as well. The actual user examples are not available in the sales page, but in the following pages.

Given that probably 90% plus do nothing with the product, you'll be looking for a long time.

If it's something you are interested in, then ask the seller or buy it, try it then refund if it's no good.

Don't wait for others to validate your decision.

If you're not interested, then why start a thread on it? Waste of energy.

There are a lot of WSOs on this forum that can make you money if you just use them. That's where a lot of newbies go wrong, they ask "will this work?" Instead of making a commitment to MAKE work it for themselves.

  • I never understood the point of testimonials...

Why would you trust the opinion of some anonymous testimonial-poster I don't know from Adam? How do you know if he's actually done a good use of the product? How do you know he's a reliable source of valid info? How do you know if his opinion (regardless of whether it's valid or fake) is sensible?

If some random dude told you in a bar "you gotta buy XYZ stock because it's going to rock", would you buy it? Of course not! So would you buy an online product if a random dude told you in a testimonial box "you gotta buy XYZ product because it's going to rock"? Why would it be any different?

Trusting testimonials in a sales page is stupid (regardless of whether they're legit or fake).

Yeah, because nobody would ever lie to you.

Nobody would show you money they made from owning rental property and claim they made it in the stock market. And they certainly wouldn't claim they learned how to invest from something they actually don't have and didn't read.

People lie. That's all there is to it. If they fail, they want to blame the last thing they got from someone else. If they succeed, they want to take all the credit themselves. It's all about them. It has jack squat to do with helping you and improving your life.

That's why most testimonials are BS. If you got real results from a product, you wouldn't give the credit to the product - you would take all the credit yourself.

Of course, the same can be said for bad testimonials: if you didn't pay attention and didn't really follow the system and only failed because you're a complete dumbass, you don't want to accept the blame so you run point your finger at the product.

I think testimonials are garbage, myself, but there are far too many people out there who just flat-out won't buy squat unless they see testimonials. So it's just "leaving money on the table" if you don't use them.
