Latest good tactics for SEO

I've kinda been out of the SEO stuff for a bit and I'm just now getting back in the swing of things again. I would like to hear from some of you seasoned "SEO GURU's" what the latest techniques are?

If I'm right, Link Popularity is still a big part, but it seems link building now emphasizes topic related sites that deep linking with good anchor text versus the old style "Root Domain Link Exchange".

I don't want to get bogged down with specifics as I can start other topics to get details that I don't know, but what type of tactics are good and what are bad.

I'm in the process of hiring some people to manage that will do some of the grunt work for me. I'm finding on some of the outsourcing websites they all have quick tactics like forum posting, social book marking, blog posts but I find they are mainly interested in billing hours.

What I want to do is come up with a good campaign and give them specific tasks to handle.

So what other tactics are good and which are bad?

Thanks,

g

Well, this is quite a h*** of a post... No offence to you, but I find your post as an offence to the "ordinary guy" (including me) hanging on WF... So, if I got your message right, I shall tell / post here what is (still) working from the "classic" SEO programs / tactics like Stompernet - Stomping the Search Engines - that I've paid for. Good point, nice tries, but sorry, if you are going to HIRE some guys ANYWAY, you shall rely on their experience, so take care NOT to choose the cheapest ones...!

    Succes!

    Marc,

You have a pretty good idea of the concept. You can do the other blogs, but think in terms of normal internet users. What you are doing is actually simulating the normal process by creating other blogs that link to yours.

Ideally, it would be other blogs that would find your website so informative that over time you build up a huge link popularity by other blogs that link to you naturally. From there it snowballs.

My recomendation would be use the original content on your site, build up your site with good content and eventually the old saying will apply, "If you build it, they will come".

What your referring to is specifically "Link Building" and you should probably start a topic on that alone to get more detailed information.

There is a term floating around these days called "Link Bait". Think about what the actually means, it is kind like bait for fishing. You make content so unique and interesting that it will catch people and the will want to link to you.
