Hey all, pretty new here and am soaking up all the great info. I saw another post where a new guy got some feedback on his plan. Hoping to get the same thing here. So my plan is to

Create niche sites with good, quality content based on research and forum inputs. Possible product creations (ebooks)

Once traffic is flowing, monotize it with affiliates, clickbank, adsense.

I know there's stuff that coincides with this, like e-mail etc. Am I on the right track?

That's OK for AdSense, but you're loosing money if you dont put everything else at the very start.

"Coincides with" is right: there's not much point in promoting affiliate products, and especially not ClickBank products, without an incentivized opt-in on your site on day 1, before any traffic gets there.

Also ... you can (and perhaps should) test this for yourself, of course, but personally, I wouldn't dream of having AdSense on the same site: if I'm trying to get people to opt in so that I can make affiliate sales, why would I want to (a) clutter my pages with distractions, and (b) give people additional ways to leave my site (which earn me only pennies) rather than staying there?!

Thanks for the great feedback! Good point on the adsense, don't send them away! I have great ideas for sites, sites with content I'll put effort into and enjoy putting out. I guess the biggest hangup for me is the best way to monotize a great site I plan to have. THAT's what is getting me stuck..

There are several recent posts on here about monetizing a site that is getting 5000 hits a day and making no money.

        Check that out.

    Affiliate products over adsense.

They convert at like the same except with affiliate products you get a higher commision. F*** Adsense. I mean this in the most polite way possible.

yes, so basically you have a good start but you need to build a list. I would say you never want to build traffic to someone elses site without first capturing it for yourself.

Things change, programs change and you don't want to do all the work to get traffic just to have it going to someone else.

You might also search this forum for the many posts of people who have created great sites to do affiliate programs directly and for adsense who haven't made any money yet.

I have put up several squeeze pages in different niches and started making money in a few hours on some of the more recent ones and I just started this a few months ago. (of course I did have prior offline business experience but no online technical experience.)

The fact that you are starting off with a plan is a very good idea. Now, just make sure you can get targeted traffic and have an offer to get people on your list and you should be good to go.

    Good luck.

Try the wordpress "socrates" they've got the site so that you add the content and behind the scenes you type in your affilliate numbers and they are posted in the locations you want. For more details google them then you'll see if that is appealing to you.

I don't like adsense. Google ban my account for using automated traffic exchange and *Poof* my earnings are gone. automated traffic exchange sucks too, you get fake visitors.

Finding good wordpress theme to promote affiliate?
Google search for "Matt carter's free wordpress theme"

Want to build a list but don't want to pay for Aweber?
use imnicamail. Free for the first 1k subscriber, although your automated mail will be 5-8 minutes delay

Be sure to write and giveaway Free report to capture emails.
They say don't use ebook, use report instead because it sound nicer. I have no idea what is the difference.

Make an ebook cover to attract users.
I can help you create one.

I think that is all you need to know.

    To your success 2012,
    Tenzho

There has been made many good points in this thread.

One thing I want to add is focus on only one thing at a time. It's the same with monetizing your website. Decide if you want to go for clickbank, amazon, list building and do and adjust the website accordingly. My experience is that you get better results this way.

My first choice would be building relationships, and that's list building.

Hey, welcome to the WarriorForum and congrats on having a plan started!

Creating and marketing niche sites can be very financially rewarding and there is no limit on how much you can earn.

Although a site can be monetized in many ways, for most sites, depending on your business model, they will typically convert better when you are focused on only one method.

Regardless of how you eventually monetize it, you will never go wrong with starting your email list from the very start.

So, if you are going to do an adsense site, stay focused on that. Learn everything you can about adsense niche sites, what converts best, how to drive traffic to an adsense site within their terms of service, etc.

I personally love adsense sites and create some of my best passive income from sites that I haven't touched in a long time. However, creating these type of sites is a numbers game, the more you create, the more you make. These also make great sites sell very well on the open marketplace. But I also don't put all my eggs in 1 basket...

Promoting ClickBank products is an entirely different business model and has very different visitors and requires your visitors to do much more than just click on a link.

Typically, although I do have direct links to ClickBank products, most of my sales come from those that I can pre-sell them on the products. I usually end up doing a thorough personal review of a product and provide as much info as possible. I personally only recommend products that I use or know are from a trusted source and that can add much value for my visitors.

Promoting physical products like those at Amazon.com, again, is another different business model and again, requires your visitors to actually purchase something before you can earn $$.

Typically, I find that when I take an optimize a site for a specific product from Amazon, I usually will pick the top 5-10 best selling, that have the most reviews (this tells me they are actually selling online) with a price point of more than $100 (this is just a personal preference, some do much lower and some will only consider $1,000+).

For products, I will do more of a helpful product details sheet, kind of like a report and not like a review of a product. I gather as much information as I can about a product so the visitor can learn everything they can about the product, hopefully will learn enough that they fill like clicking over to Amazon and making a sale

Selling your own product is where things get really interesting and is really where the money is and always will be.

The most important thing...get a system in place...focus on that system...understand that system...work the system...test...test...test...throw away what doesn't work, keep what does, next. Rinse and repeat!

    Hope this helps...Leah

Step one is to do really good market research and keyword research so that you can sell what people are already buying but that doesn't have too much competition.

This alone, I believe is key is whether you start making money sooner rather than later.

Then once you have selected your market, niche and keywords, go ahead and start building a list in that niche and start to build a relationship and offer some affiliate products.

This way, even if you want to create you own product, you are already started on the lead funnel to get prospects.

I would not hold up progress waiting to learn how and then to create your own products.

Plus, having your own products means you have to provide customer service.

I mostly promote affiliate programs and you can do pretty well doing that without all the other hassle.

    Just something to think about.

Arrggg: I am very tempted, so much great info and I feel like I might be missing out if I stay a peon member

Topkat: Is there a thread where I can see some examples of products people are creating? If not, do you have some examples? I was thinking of doing the affiliate thing too..signed up for clickback last night but haven't dived into it yet. I really was thinking about writing short stories/novels for the e publishing thing. Quality though, no crap. If not that, product creation or affiliate stuff I'm thinking. I just need a focus!

There isn't just one thread, there are many. Some are general and some are more specific.

I personally do not create my own products because that way I can start making money in another niche rather easily.

I also don't really use clickbank.

I use affiliate programs for products I have used and I also am an affiliate with Amazon.com, commissionjunction.com and maxbounty.com.

I like these networks because I sell things that people are already buying and are familiar with.

Also, I never refer people directly to an offer. I want to build the asset of "my list" and then promote to the list.

Again, I would say, the most important step is to pick a profitable niche.

If it is too competitive, you are pretty much going to have a harder time of it as a newbie.

Ramone: I've read a lot here, all great info. From what I've read, I like the course of action I stated in my OP the best. There's only so many avenues to take in IM right? Are you suggesting that me duplicating a course of action, or a plan as I call it, is not sound just because I've read it here? I want to duplicate things I've read here because it looks like many have learned from both success and failure.

Thanks Firetrip! It's nice to see someone here who is starting out too

I have a few sites in mind. I'm currently making a niche site where the people that use it are providing content. I'm struggling a bit with the technical side of it but I should get it. I plan to take your advice and stick with it until I'm either satisfied or I dump it and try another one.

I also have an idea for a "how to" site based on a hobby I spent years doing researching theory, techniques, and products involved in the niche. i can do ALOT with it with as much time as I used to spend doing it.

I plan to grab traffic with quality content. I've scratched the surface on SEO (more to learn) and I plan to get into some forums to get involved with what people want, so I think I can be able to drive some traffic to my site.

You should monetize first and then get traffic. Do your SEO on daily basis because SEO brings traffic which is food for your site, if you don't your site will go hungry. Pay attention to your content and backlinks. Keep reading forums and blogs and each day you'll learn a new trick.
