    Hello ,
for me I tend to write 2-3 emails per week , providing useful value first , 2 of these emails have links to my products or affiliate links .

I know a lot of people sending emails every days with offers , so it usually depend on your list and what they really want .

    Hope that helps

To build a list all you have to do is provide something people want in return for their email address through a squeeze page.

Easy to say - harder to do well.

There are lots of other ways of course but the key is always providing value.

I am having good success with software programs that you can giveaway but need to be activated to use.

By eliminating the need for the "email address" up front, I am getting way better conversions and my lists are building faster.

I Now build products like this all the time as its not that hard, with the right tools, some patience and plenty of beer/Cider in the fridge as the carrot to keep going.

Squeeze pages still work very well, but the need to get MASSIVE Numbers in order to build a half way decent list turns me off.

Its a special skill to be able to generate massive traffic fast, one I don't have. So I find that by eliminating email forms to get freebies I get much better success rates.

Rather than looking for more and more visitors, I try and find ways to attract a higher percentage of those that visit my pages.

I haven't Mastered the Art, But I am working on it.

I agree with Luckyman, giving a good quality gift away on a squeeze page is probably the best way, people want more nowadays so just asking them to sign up to your newsletter is not quite enough.

    Hope this helps

I use Twitter as it is one of my best sources of referrals to my site. Easy to build a good following and slowly convert that into leads/customers

Facebook isn't too bad but I find it more time consuming and harder to build a following through.

I'm a big stats person, i check analytics religiously and try to see where i can improve or where i may be losing people. This helps me build my list by knowing where to spend my efforts/time.

    My trick is sneaky...

I use a little social engineering — in that, I create a problem and really emphasis it. Around that problem I create a video (under the guise of giving away free information).

For example... I will create a video about how to get back links from edu sites, all the while during the video mention how much time it takes to do, albiet it's still free, and if you don't know what your doing, you run the risk of wasting your precious time placing links on nodofollow sites, thus negating your entire efforts.

At the end of the video, they've learned how to find, place, and ping edu links to their website. But at the bottom of the page there are two offers. One is a FREE list of edu blogs they manually place their links on, only email is required to download the list. The second offer is, we'll do it for them for a price.

    Works like a charm.

I've found using Twitter in the very early stages to be really good. Especially if you're starting off with zero subscribers.

    I have a few ideas:

    1) Make your homepage a squeeze page

    2) Offer a free ebook

    3) Promote your free ebook on your blog

    4) Have a refer-a-friend link in the signature of your email newsletter to get referrals. This strategy maybe a no-go if your autoresponder is Aweber.

    5) Do free and profitable paid advertising like a champ.

You nailed it man - this is how everyone should do it I couldn't agree more!

The thing here is you have to make the visitors of your site feel they can have something in return for entering their email address.

In addition, you can add an OTO (one time offer) after a person subscribes to your list...this funded proposal concept can help you recoup some of your advertising expenses, thus allowing you to spend more money on traffic or other resources...just a little extra tip to help offset the cost of list building & traffic generation!

I give people a lot of real value, things they can't find for free just by Googling it and I include details because when I've looked for certain information, I found a lot of generalities.

Also, I only promote programs that I myself have experience with and I know that the average person can actually afford them.

There is only one list where I target high end buyers. All my other lists, I keep the quality high and the price as low as I can go while keeping high quality.

I like to use CPV/PPV traffic directed to a landing page that has an opt-in form on it that is handled by a third-party.

This is so important for building trust and yet a lot of marketers miss it.
