Ok, understood: no hostility/criticism intended at all, but I strongly recommend that you run a spell-check on all the site's content: I looked only at a couple of pages but caught howling spelling mistakes within the first line or two of each. Just saying ...

I have to agree. The marketing world has changed dramatically over the last few years.

The use of video is an absolute must to develop trust in this instant gratification kind of world.

Agree with Alexa, it needs a spell-check. In the about page you need to fix the width - the writing overlaps to the right - the site looks pretty good but a little more content will help, also try implementing more graphics to the layout - a very appealing site has more chances to keep a visitor for longer and interested.

As what has already been said plus put some more ads on, maybe another block midway through the text.

I'd also suggest breaking up your copy with some sub-heads.

They chunk the content into smaller bite-sized pieces, and help to pull those just scanning into the copy.

I highly recommend using a sans serif font for the text in the body - such as verdana, tahoma, arial, etc. The serif font that you're using is harder to read, and stylistically makes the blog look "old".

This is very sound advice. I couldn't quite come up with the right words to express this concept, but you have taken the words out of my mouth.

Also, I forgot to mention that you want to use sub-headlines. You have to keep in mind that the attention span of most readers is very short. I recommend finding some effective courses on copy writing. You can never go wrong with the master Gary Halbert.

Also - make your images (such as the ring images) clickable to the affiliate page.

If you don't know how to do this in WP, the easiest way is to click on the image in the post so that it is highlighted. Use the chain link above to enter the URL, open in new window, save.

Personally I think the headline "Learn How To Clean Silver Jewelry" is not eye catching enough. Don't take it personal please but I just get the sense that something is missing.

I think the ad that is above the ad copy is distracting. I would find a way to better incorporate it on the page so that it looks more natural.

In terms of the ad copy, here is a list of power words that I learned from master marketer Mike Glaspie:

    bold
    daring
    exciting
    enthusiastic
    breakthrough
    announcing
    incredible
    magnificent
    magical
    warning
    free
    how-to
    revealing
    secrets
    overwhelming
    totally
    temptation
    enormous
    burgeoning
    compliment
    accomplish
    love
    fear
    proud
    favorite
    picture
    imagine
    courage
    vivid
    best
    succeed
    health
    win
    earn
    lead
    prosper
    security
    more
    gain
    future
    save
    wealth
    money
    easy
    expert
    protect
    sale
    astounding

    beacon
    appalling

I hope my input helps. Take care.

    Hi,

Firstly, change the HTML and make the page width wider.

Yellow on black is a big no-no in terms of design.

Possibly change the title to "How To Clean Silver Jewelry & Keep It Valuable For Years To Come".

Not just for highlighting the benefit of a chore but also for LSI and keyword relevance on broad searches.

That should help you make a few changes!

Is adsense your only means of making money with the website? I think it's a pretty cool site for you being a newbie to website design. Do you have a marketing plan ready for it?

You mention that knowing how to clean silver jewellery is a question that many enthusiasts ask. Why do they ask this question? ie What problems do people face when it comes to cleaning silver jewellery? Is it a lack of knowledge or the difficulty of finding the right way to clean silver jewellery? You could address these problems in the first paragaraph in the same way that you talk about the way silver blemishes over time. I would summarise the main points of the article and what the reader can expect to learn from it.

You have a lot of text which could do with breaking up into subsections with subject headers for each section. This would make it more readable and easier to digest. The reader would then be able to scan the article better and go to the relevant sections.

What do you want your readers to do? Sign up to a newsletter with some great free tips or purchase something like a guide to cleaning silver? Depending on the answer, I would have an eye catching call to action above the fold maybe an opt-in form in the sidebar and if you're selling something, another call to action in the middle and/or at the end of the article.

    Just some ideas!

    Sunil.
