All depends how you wait to build your reputation — and "worth it" all depends on what you declare is worth it or not. If that type of SEO is your gig — give it a shot! Personally, I wouldn't spend a dime on it. Money better spent on unique articles. After all, this is the information age — help the cause brother!

Well I wouldn't count on any direct traffic through them if that's what you mean.

The quality of link is unlikely to affect your SEO either, but you could potentially get removed from Google for playing the link building game.

Spam is almost never worth it. If you can identify it so obviously you can be sure a search can (or will soon).

You would be much better posting genuine helpful comments in real forums.

I doubt people are even visiting those spammy sites, and if they are think to yourself, would they really click my links? Most likely if they happen to arrive on the page they will just click back on their browser and find something else.

Anything associated with spam isn't great. Don't forget you're going to associate your name with spam. So if it's ok with you, then go for it. Spam isn't worth the effort and money though. There are better things out there to invest on like outsourcing seo or ppc ads.

While some actually monitor their forums and keep spammers away, there are some that really do not care because they left the forum project for something else.

These forums that are run over with spammers are going to do you no good at all. Not only will you get no activity from them but you will not get any "backlinks" as this guy may be telling you.

Forum marketing has nothing to do with backlinks anyways, regardless of how many experts tell you that it does. Forum marketing is actually taking the time to participate in the forum and provide value.

Adding helpful responses on subjects that you are knowledgeable about will benefit you 10x vs a backlink. Notice I said the word "knowledgeable" - this means subjects that you have studied, tested, and are an expert in.

Adding responses from something you heard from someplace else is not helpful to anyone because it has no basis for credibility. Adding responses on a subject that has proven information that you have tested and studied will help you become a true member of the forum.

You do not need 1,000 forums to get what you want, you only need a handful of good ones that are active and have other knowledgeable people. This way you could learn a few things, share a few things, and help the community all around as a whole.

The fact is, this used to work great some time back. But I seriously doubt its still worth waste some bucks on. If you'd like to still check out the guy's services, make sure he gives you a breakdown of the PR of the forums. If most are PR3 and above, then some good might come out of it.

PR means nothing and does not change your rankings to a degree that it matters. The site may have a PR 3 on the index.php page but your post are on PR 0 or Unranked pages.

Page Rank is a very small factor in Google's 200+ factors they use to determine rankings and positions. Sites that have a higher PR on the index will get spidered more often but this has nothing to do with rankings.

PR = Individual Page Rank - There is no such thing as site rank!

Assuming your posts even see the light of day (as most good moderators will see them for what they are and delete them), all of the forum users will see you as a spammer. Is that how you want people to think of you - as someone who has nothing legitimate to offer, and who just gets in the way of the people that are genuinely swapping quality information?

Exactly! Far too many salesmen prey on people who don't know the difference. At the end of the day, your (spammy) posts will all be on PR0 pages. Your money could be spent on so many other, more productive things.
