So I'm getting to the point where I am ready to start building my new site.

I've got my niche, which is about baseball but obviously a very specific subject. With baseball season on the way, I think there will be a lot of interest in late Feb and throughout March.

I have a product I can give away that is related to baseball statistics.

So,my strategy is: build the page, create an email opt in for users to obtain the report and build my list, send to the list whenever the statistics are updated. Ads on the page and in the emails with baseball-related products and services will help generate revenue.

I will *try* to post or have someone post at least one article per day to keep the site fresh.

I'll promote the page via social networks as well as any popular baseball forums I can get involved in.

Did I miss anything and what are the chances of success here? Success being earnings of between 500-2000 in the next six weeks?

With your list of baseball fans. What are you going to sell to them in the future email promotions?

With as much information as you presented, it seems like it would be hard to give you good odds. However, based on what I know about The Internet in general, I would say that you odds of success (how you defined it) are low, but by no means zero.

Well here is what I can offer in future promotions. Now only will they get the stats I provide but I can send them a custom made report tailored specifically for them.

Additionally, if they play fantasy baseball, I can use the stats to generate a report specific to their league (every league is different).

I, as a fantasy baseball player, would have definitely spent money on such a thing in my past.

      Thanks Rhiley.

I'm going to build the site using WordPress as I am familiar with it and think I'll have an advantage in a couple ways. With baseball season coming up, people will be searching for baseball stats like crazy.

If I push my links out to my social networks and baseball message boards I can get some traffic. I'm really trying to establish a working pattern that allows me to do this year after year and make some money prior to baseball season.

Hope it works, I'll keep the board posted!

The idea doesn't sound bad. Just decide what you want to achieve with that website. Many do the same mistake of starting without an end goal. So, what's the point of building that list? What if you had 1,000 subscribers in two weeks? What then? Will you always promote just affiliate products? You need something bigger behind the list that will keep your subscribers on it. Look at the future and find what you want to achieve in 12 months from now.

One more thing. "$500-$2000 in the next six weeks?" You will need to work hell of a LOT. You'd better have the social accounts ready.

The reason I said six weeks is because baseball season start in six weeks. After that, I don;t think many people will even be looking that much for the content I will be providing.

I'm looking into rolling out a similar strategy for other sports seasons. This will basically mean each site will have a spike in traffic and revenue a certain part of the year, which I am fine with.

The idea of the site is that every year I can provide the same content, but better, to keep people coming back. I concede though there will be potentially no traffic or earnings for a few months in the winter.

Again, I'm fine with this. I have full time job and am just looking to use my hobby to test my IM skills.

Since this is baseball you're talking about, you're up against A LOT of sports and news sites on that. Even though it's pre-season, those sites that you're up against will also post updates. Also, $500 in six weeks is a ton of work, considering the amount of competition that you have.
