WarriorForum.com goes mobile with custom apps?

I was building a new VBulletin forum the other day (the same software that runs this forum) and saw that VBulletin has now released an official mobile suite for their forum software:

The world is going mobile - go mobile with it! The all new vBulletin Mobile Suite breaks new ground by empowering users to interact with your community via custom-branded iPhone and Android apps.
https://www.vbulletin.com/mobile/

So the obvious question is, will the WarriorForum.com be going mobile anytime soon? I believe in the past the powers at be did not want any third party apps or the like because they didn't want to create any security holes (understandable) but this has been created by Vbulletin.

Can we expect some WarriorForum.com apps soon?

There has been a(n unofficial, I think) WF app in the Android Marketplace for some time now.

That would be really nice to be able to access WF on the go, but I can definitely understand the security issues being a concern.

That would be soooo cool, it is pretty tedious trying to read and reply to PM and threads from a mobile while on the road ...

    I vote for Warriors Mobile

I hope not, mobile websites are for old phones that can't view normal websites.

WF looks and acts great on my phone.

    * If it does go mobile please leave the option to have a classic view don't force me to only use the mobile Ver.

People trade your old phones in so this mobile sites will stop.

I bet it's all you darn IPhone 4s (the s stands for sorry no IPhone 5).

Mobile web sites For old phones ?

Hell no, I use a Blackberry Torch 9800 it is not a "old phone" it is a smart phone, same type as iPhone and HTC Androids, that works pretty well with mobile AND normal site, except the latest are small to view so I need to zoom in and it is very hard to manage.

Check the video of the vB Mobile version it is not for "old phones" it is for NEW Smart Phones.

      Regards,

Time you update to something like samsung galaxy s2 the world best phone.

Get rid of that little blackberry toy and step into 2012. LOL

If the darn Ipad / Iphone did not have so many limitations things would be good. Time you IPhone users get into the game.

FWIW, here's the link to the app at the Android Market for reading WF.

          Warrior Forum Reader

Concerning mobile view of WF vs desktop view, don't most smartphone browsers have the mobile/desktop option? Choose the one that looks better to you or the one your phone can handle best. And if your browser doesn't give you the option, consider changing browsers. Personally, I tried Boat for awhile but I think I'm settling in on Dolphin HD.

          Peace

I have an iphone and using the browser to view forums works ok.

Until you have the chance to use a mobileapp and realize how much nicer it actually COULD be.

ProBoards has a very nice mobile app that they charge about $2.99.

And even better, Sherdog.net recognizes your device and delivers the mobile version if necessary. Awesome stuff.

I'm just really shocked when any content site doesn't have a mobile version. I was hesitant with my e-commerce site to even bother to make it mobile friendly. In my case, it was just a matter of updating Shopping Cart software. Since I did, my conversion rates/revenue went through the roof.

We really need to be able to use the WF on an Iphone! Especially if you are launching a lot of WSO's. One of the pains is that you need to sit at home on launch day so you can answer questions in the thread.

    We really need it BAD!

The problem with the native mobile app from VB is that they would not be able to incorporate some products and plugins that they use for membership and permissions. (plus the mobile suite is buggy as all hell!) Tapatalk is expensive but would be cool for this site.

I'd like to see a mobile version of WF too. Mobile versions are so much easier to view/work with on my iPhone. WF is the only forum that I go to that doesnt have a mobile version.

They could upgrade to VB 4.1.10 and it comes with a mobile "theme" that looks great on mobile browsers. It also will redirect mobile traffic to that theme and give the user the option to view it "desktop"

I vote for better mobile usability, too. The forum looks just fine on my smartphone, but replying to a thread, though possible, is not the easiest task.

It would be great to have a iOS app for WF, but I would definitely leave the option to browse it like a standard forum. Sometimes the mobile versions doesn't work great and miss some of cool features.

I believe the issue is the upgrade to vBulletin 4.

I'm fairly certain this forum is still running on vB3...and there is a reason for that.

VBulletin 4 was not met with praise. Very buggy with support that has been below the level most customers figured they'd receive.

Alot of WarriorForum members profess their LOVE for vBulletin as it is what the WF runs on.

However, do a little research with people who have actually purchased and tried to use vB4...and you quite hear and feel all that "LOVE"...

Don't worry. Richard likes arguing for arguments sake. We've all heard his similar ramblings in the mobile marketing forum.

He seems to have something against advancements in technology. If you keep on listening you will hear his story about how he created ecover action scripts and saved the world. (12 years on and he is still telling it - talk about advancements...)

Richard, as has been proven here yet again, YOU are the one behind the times buddy. If you think mobile websites and mobile apps are old news then I really don't know what to tell you.

You just reminded me to buy that for one of my forums.

I'm 99% sure they have a mobile option and classic option when viewing it depending on what device you're using.

But yeah, I was waiting on it too for some fairly large forums.

I sometimes check in on the WF on my iPhone but don't attempt
to reply to post or write anything long. I see people who write
really long emails and messages from their smart phones but
this is definitely too tedious for me.

If there were an app that integrated voice translation then it will
get my vote. Who knows what's in the works?

hi, warrior forum can go on mobile app, but not with the apps providing by vbulletin mobile, because vbulletin mobile suites only supports the vbulletin 4 versions, while warrior forum is using vbulletin 3.x.

I have a Galaxy SII LTE and have to say that even though the WF sizes fine on the display, I have to zoom in to read anything and it's awkward. Wait, maybe it's me and not the app that's getting old?

Will check out the app Suzanne mentioned.
