Facebook idea, adverts? [Complete novice]

Just to clarify I have only just taken my first steps into the whole internet marketing scheme. I am completely ignorant to it all so I apologise in advance, any guidance is much appreciated, but I really do need to start from step 1.

The reason I am questioning this so early is I am wondering if it is worth perusing or if I should drop it and pick up elsewhere.

Right! I believe and I truly believe, That I am able to rile up a big fan base with an idea for a Facebook fan page. I am fairly confident the idea falls betweens their terms of use for fan pages and I am wondering if I can turn a profit with this fan base? BUT reading on, It seems that it is against their policy to advertise with external links? Am I wrong in thinking this? If not any ideas for using this fan base to generate some money?

Thankyou for your time.

David

If I were you I would focus more on getting the fan page up and running and building the audience first, then worry about monetizing it.

You might find for example after you have been up and running for a while that a completely new way to monetize them might come up which you would not have realised before because you did not have any interaction with the fans of the page.

For exampe if your fan page was about Internet Marketing then maybe there might be a number of people asking about how to find someone to coach them/assist as a mentor, etc.

That could lead you to a) Provide this service yourself or b) Create an ebook about how to do it.

Again in this example maybe this type of monetization was not something that had come to light before you had the fan page up and going.

Focus right now on building up the fan base, and give them some great information and engage with them, and worry about the money once you have build up some form of following.

Thank you, I think I will take your advice and ask this question earlier down the line. Also, regarding the other posts , they made little sense to me as I haven't a clue what the abbreviations mean

If you are talking about advertising with an external link with their PPC then no it's not against their TOS. I haven't a ton of campaigns running as we speak that are directed to external urls. CPC is usually a lot lower however when you are linking internally, or keeping people within Facebook.
