Will Google listing punnish static WP page?

Hi

If I set a static page without sidebars etc in WP. Will searchengines still
keep listings based on fresh content in the categories or should I shift the
static page content now and then as well?

What I say is not a guaranteed place on the search engines. But do a
static page discredit the listings in anyway. Meaning do it give a index
page better rating then the sub folders (Categories)

by Automation. But thanks for that info.

SEO is not my forte. However, I do not think a static page is inherently discredited or penalized by the SE's. If it ranks on it's own merit, then it will be ranked accordingly. BUT... one thing we do know is that it will not be visited as often by the SE spiders. If the spider returns and finds that nothing has changed, it will come around less often. Beyond this, there are strategies that can be used on dynamic pages which may give them an edge when it comes to SEO.

So to answer your question... no I don't think google will punish it, but they won't reward it either.

      Thanks

So if I add rss feed to the bottom to static page that may
give a better re-visit then? I do not have massive traffic yet.

But listed on first page on google on related keywords and feel
quite lost when it comes to SEO. So thanks for that info.

Again I'm not an expert on google's algos, but based on my experience... yes, adding dynamic content to an otherwise static page can help it get visited more frequently by SE spiders.
