aWeber - click tracking stuff - Do U Use It?

I sent out a broadcast to my list [my tiny little list] with an update, and I put a link in it to my blog. However; I hadnt used the tracking "feature" before and I got a funky link - I dont think Im happy with.

Experts thoughts ideas - you use their tracking? Is there a better way?

    Tracking is great, but those links are ugly and DECREASE click-throughs.

    Though not foolproof, you can create HTML links in Aweber to hide the link target. The actual link still shows if someone reads in plain text or if someone mouses over the link, but it's a decent tradeoff.

    I agree, tracking is awesome, but I'm not sure if those tracking links actually decrease click-throughs. I'd have to see some solid proof before believing that.

    One thing that would decrease click-throughs would be crappy subject lines or bad email copy. I'd click on the ugliest link in the world if what came before it was juicy enough

        I don't always use them--they are pretty ugly. But they can give you an idea of how well the title of your email convinces reader to click to open. I've had huge differences in click to open rates depending on my opening line. I do think that they may decrease click through rates. People have no idea where they will be taken when they click them. It might scare them a bit.

      I wish I could remember where I saw those stats, but I did read of this within the past 8 to 9 months I would guess. Someone did measure this, and it was a dramatic difference. If I can find the numbers, I'll post them, and until then I'll stand by my original assertion.

    I always use link tracking on AWeber, I don't know any good reason not to. It's important to see how effective your mailings are.

    Your best solution would be to use the email web analytics features so you can use your own domain name for all click tracking links instead of clicks.aweber.com or clicks.jvlistpro.com
