The Power of Blog Commenting - 600+ UV's per day.

Blog commenting is definately one of my favourite traffic generation methods, simply because of the quality of the traffic. People who get to the comment section, have usually read the entire article and they're looking for more information or user input. These are the types of people who you want on your list. Simply because they are more likely to read to the very end of your emails, and click on your affiliate link.

How do you find the best blogs to comment on?

Using the Google Keyword Tool, gather up a list of keywords which you feel are relevant to your Niche. (It's best to find Keywords that have more than 500 searches per month for obvious reasons) Once you have your selected keywords, search them one by one into Google. Most of the time the best blogs to comment on, are on Page #1, simply because you can be sure they're recieving daily traffic. Depending on the search volume of the keyword, I'll sometimes look at blogs on Page 2 and 3.

Controversy gets Clicks

Please don't be a spammer. "Nice article, i really enjoyed it" - Yeah I class that as spam. Contribute to the discussion, and add value. Not only is your comment more likely to be accepted by the blog owner, but you will actually recieve more, higher quality clicks. Even if it's only a paragraph expressing your opinion. I find that the best way to get clicks is to be controversial.

It's a numbers game

Now just repeat this process on all of your selected keywords. Lets say you comment on 100 different blogs, and only average 1 click per day from each blog, thats an extra 3,000 UV's per month. Along the way you'll start noticing which blogs bring in the most traffic using AWStats in your CPanel. Then you simply contribute more to these particular blogs.

Google used to be my #1 source of traffic. Not anymore

If you're profiting from only one or two traffic generation methods, then forget moving onto a different Niche, it's time to diversify and maximise the potential out of your winning method. Tap into as many different traffic generation methods as possible, (e.g. Google, Blog Commenting, Article Syndication, PPC, Forums, Social Bookmarking etc.) Become a master of each of these methods, AND THEN move onto a different Niche.

No, the exact opposite. I do it because it's an extra source of traffic, relying on Google isn't a good thing in this business.

Great post! I focus so much on trying to get Google to pay attention to my sites, I forget all the other great methods to get targeted traffic.

Never really thought of blog commenting as a source of traffic. But that's good to know. Just one question: Do you use your keyword as an anchor text when posting a comment?
