I'm going to promote books.

Is there a large range of books to promote?

Thanks.

Ummm... why don't you go to the Amazon.com website and check out the 'Books' category on the left navigation menu?

I suggest you need to sell books via other medium like own website, newsletter, email marketing etc. I'd not rely on amazon only.

Ewan....it's easy enough to go to amazon and see for yourself what the selection is. To be honest, if you know nothing about what you are promoting, you are doomed to failure.

You would be better off selling your own books on Kindle than promoting books as an Amazon affiliate since the commission would be very very low....There's some good wso's recently out on selling on Kindle so definitely look into it. Just stay away from repackaging PLR 100%!

Interestingly enough, you will find that when you promote the higher commission items that many of your indirect sales will come from books. People know Amazon has an excellent reputation for books so many of your customers will surf around for books on Amazon once they visit your affiliate links.

So focus on other higher paying niches!

I'd also recommend selling your own Kindle books on Amazon below the $10 price point. You want impulse buys, and Amazon listings rank nicely on certain search engines (hint) Also, as mentioned above if you're going to be an affiliate for Amazon try to push the higher priced products because Amazon pays only about 6%. The UP SIDE with Amazon is that once someone clicks on your affiliate link you get paid for ANYTHING they buy! It just helps if they are in the market for something big. You can do nicely around Christmas.
