Some questions about affiliate marketing (thinking about creating a Wordpress plugin)
I had a client last year who was using a Price Tapestry Wordpress plugin and I was really unimpressed by it
As a coding exercise I was thinking about creating a Wordpress plugin and releasing it under the GPL license.
This Wordpress plugin will offer the the same functionality as PT but it will fully integrate the individual items into the main Wordpress database / build
But I really don't know about how affiliate marketing works
Presumably you sign up with the a service like Affiliate Window, submit your website to an individual merchant and they then approve your request
According to the info on Affiliate Window you can then gain access to the feed in either XML or CSV format (wiki.affiliatewindow.com/index.php/Metadata)
Apart from Affiliate Window what other companies offer this type of service?
Is it a case with all of them that you download the feed onto you harddrive and then upload it to your website? Or can you access the feeds directly on their website?
