We;re trying to generate interest in our IT Support Contract but other than SEO, we're not really sure which angle is the best.

Would love some feedback and ideas on how to sell more of these IT contracts to small and medium businesses.

We have just posted a blog post offering 15% of any contract to anyone who can bring us business in the form of a new contract every month ..

Any more ideas greatly appreciated.

I guess to help I'd like to start by asking what types of IT services you provide? That will really help your angle take shape. Because it's something you don't have a lot of clients for, you need to sell it in your words. So what IT services can you provide? What's the incentive for people to see you as an IT provider?

Just trying to get your brain gears turning. It's really important to flesh these things out and have a clear indication of where you want to be in the industry.

In short - We'd like to be the virtual IT department from small businesses that have no real IT function in place. We have a few contracts already but nothing that would make me employ staff. Typically this service would be to support workstations and servers, provide hosting, email and seo.

I've personally worked as the head of IT for many firms but this is totally different to running your own business.

If it's anything to do with IT - chances are i'd be able to do it or know someone that could so the "services" could potentially be limitless. My trouble is finding new business as I dont come from a business background - i'm more technical and cold calling just isnt me! (I know what im like when I get the "can I speak to the person in charge of..." Yea goodbye!!

Having run several companies I must agree with Kyle - you need to define what you do in a statement that explains it to someone. I can do anything doesnt help me decide if I need what you can offer. Imagine I am a small business owner struggling to get everything done - I want you to tell me why I need you and more importantly the benefit to me of using you.

You should think of going it as:

    a 1 sentence statement
    a short paragraph
    a page

This helps you develop your own thoughts and gives you marketing pointers as you develop the material.

    Hope that makes sense
