Pinterest.com Social Media Phenomenon

Although the domain of Pinterest is 2 years old but last year it had a blast with a rapid boost in traffic. Does anyone has any idea how they did it? :p

Interesting Fact:

Pinterest makes its $$ by converting links you post into their own affiliate links.

I.E.: You post a link to a cool amazon product you like. Pinterest then converts it to an affiliate link for themselves.

Brilliant. Idea. GG Pinterest.

I will post a few and hope this thread does not get removed due to there are a few "pinterest wso's".

* You may also want to make your Like section an unofficial wish list that friends or family members can browse for gift ideas. * Mention users you follow by typing "@" in front of their user names much like you do with Twitter. Add the mention either to a pin or repin description or to a comment you make. The user will then receive a notification and possibly stop on in to repin something else of yours.

* If you add a "$" or a "£" to the Pin description then Pinterest will automatically add a price banner to the corner of the photo you pinned. The Pin will also appear in the main gifts category. In the pin description remember to link to the website where people can purchase.

With Exposure you mean same as Trending in Twitter?

Now that's more concerning with the people who'd like to pin pictures without the consent of copyright issue. This is a valuable share & I think everyone is interested in sharing by looking at the replies. I would like to see Warriors sharing more about Pinterest.

So what is considered a "natural way"? If I create a board about wristwatches using my Amazon affiliate link, how many watches can I pin before Pintrest flags my board as spam or overly commercial? What if I mix it up with repins and links for other affiliate programs?

Like everything else, they will be people that are looking to make a quick buck and try to spam it, but the the Pinterest community is very good at reporting spam.

If done correct Pinterest can be a good source for targeted traffic.

Because not everyone is all out for themselves. Some people actually like helping others.

I've shared MANY methods that have made me money in this very forum over the years.

Why?

Several reasons:

1 - I like helping others
2 - I'm not all about the money and I don't care if I increase competition in one small area of my business
3 - Most people won't do anything with the information
4 - I often make money in ways that I just don't enjoy, so I stop doing them but I'll happily share how I did it so that others who are happy to do those things can take advantage of them
5 - People have helped me a lot in my life and I think passing that on to others can only be a good thing.

Yes - this is inevitable when new sites like this launch - some people see it as an opportunity to create a new product to 'enlighten' others. That's great - the only problem comes when they're written by people who have no real experience with the site and are basing their product on 'creative' ways to abuse the site with no real care about the legitimacy of what they're saying and then use hyped up "new secret ways to make money using xxx.com" sales pages to give the impression they're crushing it and sharing real experience.

I had to laugh when someone mentioned this in a skype group I'm in and someone skeptically said "well, I wonder when the WSOs will start" and the reply came back "they're already running and more coming all the time".

It's one of the things about the IM niche. Some people are looking for anything to sell and if something 'new' comes out - that's the trigger to start their product creation, just to hit the enquiring minds before there's time for anyone to actually have enough experience to create a decent product. Then as time goes on, some better products come out based on people actually working out how to properly use/leverage the site/system, then the hoard of 'me too' copycat products for "how to snatch free catch using the secret xxx.com site" angle comes.

It's a repeating cycle and you can just replace the xxx.com with the name of anything new that comes out.
