How does one go about Article Syndication?

I hear a lot of Warriors discuss how they are reaching out to thousands of readers through article syndication. The technique seems pretty legit but i still had some doubts.

1) Sites like Ezine Articles have thousands of articles posted everyday. How does one get publishers to post our article on their site/blog?

2) Wouldn't you rather let search engine visitors come to your site instead of being directed to EZA?

Article marketing is not about the content of the articles per se.

Firstly, getting the articles syndicated across lots of directories gives you backlinks, and backlinks that the big G likes.

Secondly, these articles are just teasers inviting the reader to come to your website to find out more.

If somebody reads your 450 word article, thinks "oh, interesting," and closes the browser window, does it really make any difference whether the article is hosted on your site or on an article directory? Those readers are not your target market if they go no further than reading one short article.

What the article needs to do is to invoke somebody's interest so that he/she clicks on your link in the "about the author" section. At this point you can bring the surfer to the page that you want them to see. It might be a squeeze page or it might be a general introductory page. It depends on what you want to do with the traffic.

What you don't want to do, though, is start posting meaty 2,000 or 3,000 word articles elsewhere. Then you are giving away your content and it is much more likely that you will answer a surfer's question in the article itself and then there is no reason for the surfer to click on your link at the bottom of the article.

By offering them the content they continually need, and by building relationships with them.

    Yes, of course.

That's absolutely fundamental to any kind of article marketing.

Nobody wants their potential customers going from a search engine to an article directory rather than from a search engine to their own site (we all lose most of the traffic that goes to a directory, and it's incredibly wasteful). Those are not the people for whom the article directory copies are submitted.

Fortunately, it's pretty easy (and all the more so, after all the benefits of the Panda updates of 2011) to avoid that happening.

If you read posts #2 and #6 of the following thread, and then follow up the links provided in post #2, I think you'll find (a) all your questions answered, (b) an explanation of how article syndication works, and (c) resources recommended for further information: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ries-work.html

Also, if it helps you to see a highly abbreviated, one-post summary of "how it comes together" and how one makes a living from it, there's one here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5035794

    It's partly about that, clearly.

For article marketing to work, the articles have to be written for syndication in the first place, otherwise people with the targeted traffic you want to attract aren't going to publish them for you. Article marketing is intrinsically a "content for traffic" deal: you won't get access to anyone's traffic without providing in exchange the content they want for their readers/subscribers/visitors.

First of all do not listen to advice like what was posted on post #2 - YOUR CONTENT DOES MATTER A GREAT DEAL! 2nd DO NOT MASS SUBMIT TO THOUSANDS OF DIRECTORIES, BAD IDEA!

All your content you want posted on your own site first and foremost. Do not give away your unique and fresh content to anybody. It is yours why not use it, post it on your own site / blog first.

After it is on your site / blog then you want to do some bookmarks, social posting, and pings to get that content seen by people and search engines. Do not syndicate just yet, wait a few days and make sure your content is indexed.

Then you want to go to social media sites such as livejournal and multiply (there are hundreds of these sites) and you want to post what I call half articles. The half article should include at least 1 link in the body and and a read more link leading back to the original on your site.

DO NOT CREATE HUNDREDS OF ACCOUNTS FOR THIS! Only create as many accounts as you can "manually" handle. Which means you should only create 5 - 10 social media accounts on multiply type sites. You want to handle these sites manually and participate in the sites. Every time you post on your site / blog this is the first place you post your half articles.

Once that is done run a few (not many) bookmarks on the social media accounts you created. You do not want to go over-board on bookmarking these sites as you want to build your site and not theirs.

Next on your list you want to make sure you create hubpages and/or squidoo lenses. Create an entire page based around 3 - 4 of your articles. DO NOT ADD ANY SALES PITCHES! Add informative content and engages users and attracts them to your blog / site. squidoo you can feed your rss feed into your lenses that you create. Again a few few bookmarks will not hurt here.

Now you want to locate some top bloggers that are "related" and you want to build a relationship with them. Many will disagree here and think you should just email people, which does work but I personally think it is more beneficial to build a relationship first.

Once you build a relationship with these top bloggers they will have no problem publishing your content any time you want. I know people that I can post on their blogs any time, all I need to do is send a email and say "hey let me post on your blog" and they allow me no questions asked.

This is because I built a relationship with them and they know I am not going to post junk garbage. Building a relationship with 5 or more people in your niche that have related products and services will go WAY FURTHER THAN ANY CONTENT JUNK FILLED AD ARTICLE DIRECTORY!

This is just for starters as there is more to syndication but this should get you up and running. I personally syndicate on 300+ ad free websites.

The articles you write have to be content with good quality and informative enough to attract the reader to your own web site by clicking on the link in your article.

I'm still not getting the whole idea of article syndication, and how you do it. not even 100% sure what it is.

Is it similar to guest posting? - an exciting article with a link to your site?

That can only be because you haven't yet followed the links in the posts above, I think, Lewis? It's all explained there pretty clearly.

Here is the "bird's eye view":

Network with article syndication outlets, and build relationships with the decision makers in those outlets so that they will regularly (and happily!) syndicate what you write. Build your network a little bit every day.

Now, to learn how to actually do that, I refer you back to this answer:

Oh little one how much you must learn

Read The Thread And Click On Some Links!

Just because some so called expert told you articles are for backlinks does not mean it is true

      This is completely wrong.

The people who believe that are all the ones starting off the hundreds of threads here with titles like "Article Marketing Is Dead", and in just one way they're right, because that activity is "dead" - where they're wrong is that that activity isn't actually "article marketing" at all: like you, they only think it is.

How embarrassing, When I went through the link I went to post #3

Turns out I know what article syndication is in terms of the meaning, just didn't know the title for it
I write high quality articles on AMR and spin it (carefully, so it makes sense with any word used.)

So to get a relationship with the blogger/site you want to syndicate to you would comment on their blog and build a relationship with them?

^ That's the part I didn't understand HOW people actually syndicated their content, but I get that now. Thanks everyone, BTW Alexa I loved your cauliflower post, I read it a couple of days ago!

Alexa, that's the third avatar change I've seen in a week. It's starting to make me feel dizzy. Hey, maybe that's just because it's Saturday night though, and the annual Carnaval fiesta in Spain.

Don't worry about getting your articles syndicated across the web just yet, worry about improving your spelling and grammar first.

    1) On the sites I'm on (not EZA btw), you get a following if you ahve really good content. Then every time I post something new, I get the immediate hits to my site from the people on that site who read it and each time someone uses my article in their newsletter or syndicates it to there site, I get all their traffic and/or members who read it. It gives me great quality real backlinks AND immediate traffic each time. (I was on EZA and found the other 2 sites easier to use and more effective.)

    2) By doing this you get both, the search engines and the many levels of traffic from the article on the site and every time it is syndicated. It is the best of all worlds, imo.

However, just like backlinks, I've found that by doing less, I get much more.

I write less unique, original, quality articles and only post to 2 article sites that syndicate my content thousands of time because of the uniqueness and the quality.

This has worked much better for me than using software that posted it everywhere.

    It also is less work.
